Bet the Guys Parked Next to Them Moved Pretty Sharp

Two lorries were engulfed in flames in the early hours at a truck park.

Five fire engines were scrambled to the blaze after receiving a call at 2.19am.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera and a high pressure hose jet reel to tackle the flames at Ashford International Truckstop in Waterbrook Avenue, Ashford.

They also used compressed air foam, which creates a blanket reducing the amount of oxygen that can then feed a fire.

A bulk water carrier was also sent to the scene.

Both vehicles were destroyed in the blaze, which is thought to have started by accident.

No one was injured and fire crews left the scene shortly before 6.30am.

A spokesman for Ashford International Truckstop said: "The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

"Two trucks were badly damaged and the prompt action of our on-site security staff in following our fire safety plan and moving other vehicles prevented any further spread.

"Kent Fire and Rescue Service crews arrived quickly and we would like to thank them for their professionalism in dealing with this incident.

“We are working closely with the Environment Agency on the clean up operation and the Truckstop remains fully open.”

no pasa nada para mi, mi amigo. Buena suerte.

Not sure they need a thermal imaging camera.

I can see fairly easily from the photos that there’s a fire

If, (and it’s a big IF) they got there early enough, they would have used it to find the hottest part of the fire to see where it is fuelled, and also to check there was no one in the unit/trailer

Ouch!
Thermal imagery is used to find where the accelerant is, the centre of the fire. Not really to find bodies.

Thank you Ripper. You’ve restored my faith in mankind.

One advantage to parking in a layby I suppose. Further away from the other cab.

My Spanish dwelling friend…i didn’t say “bodies”, i said “anybody”, and yes as you so eloquently put it, (better than me anyway), the accelerant

Can I just say that my thermal imaging post was tongue in cheek :unamused:
