Just got back from doing the theory and hazard perception test and passed them both. Can highly reccomend the official DSA theory test CD which I used to revise and got 99/100 (daft mistake on one of the questions). There is also an official DSA guide to hazard perception which I found useful because it’s not so much spotting the hazards as indicating that you’ve spotted at the right point in the video clip. Bought them both for £20 and £10 respectively from WH smith and going to stick them on e-bay to claw a bit back.

Good result well done. I also got 99/100 on my theory test 2 months ago and passed the practical last friday. whsmiths also sell a good book covering the practical test its called the official dsa guide to driving goods vehicles.

The way I passed was in my head I pretended I was being driven by my mrs (who is a fairly shoddy driver, doesnt look at things coming towards her, braking etc) and in my head i was saying theres a horse in the road, or there is a car pulling up to that junction etc, and everytime I proceed the “Oi mrs there is …hazard” I clicked the mouse, I passed with i think 89 it was

My inability to do the HPT is well documented HERE so I would be foolish to give specific advice on something I have no expertise in.

The theory questions are a different matter as I am quitely confident of knowing the majority of those but how do you help a newbie on a forum with those except to say - keep revising & doing the CD rom question bank mock tests or maybe getting a friend or family member to ask the questions without giving the optional answers
