passed Class1

Am feeling very chuffed as passed my Class1 yesterday on my second attempt.

Did my training with L&T Transport, Pontefract and they deserve a gold star, especially Andy. Did the test at Wetherby, had a test route up the A1 and into Harrogate before returning through Wetherby town centre. Collected a few minors, including some for failing to make good progress at roundabouts and steering wide at junctions…perhaps were a little too keen to avoid the kerbs.

Anyway, job done…now the learning curve seems suddenly more vertical…

Hope to now have some fridge work at Boroughbridge if everything works out. Can I thank those who encourage and support new drivers on this site, I’ve personally taken a great deal of comfort from the kind words and sound advice given freely here.

Rob

Congratulations - and good luck with the work

Jules

Congratulations & good luck.
One of the good things about the next part of that learning exsperience, is that no one is normally sitting beside you watching when you get things a little bit wrong.

Well done mate !!!

Oh way to go…
Well Done MarketLeader!!!..

Well Done!
Remember, if in doubt - ASK ! There are plenty of drivers who have answers to your questions on this site.
All the best.

Well done - How do you rate L & T, I have just signed up for the starter pack with them & am awaiting my provisioal back before taking the theory.

Did you do the c course with them too?

Any info greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the fold  Now the fun starts  especially the reverse, my very own pet hate  but they keep telling me i’ll get it, the best thing is it no longer matters how many shunts you take!!!

Well done Market Leader

Hope Read Boardall treat you well. Its good practice getting thrown in at the deep end.

Dont park your fridge next to these whinging buggers on here though!

Many thanks for all your best wishes  very kind of you to take the time out to post a reply.

Have got that so precious licence back today so it must be true I passed after not really believing I had done all last week. Went into Reed Boardall today to complete an insurance form and application form, There is still a chance their insurance company will say oh you must be having a laugh  as I haven’t any Class1 experience, and not much Class2 either having only passed that in December 2003. They should make their mind up in the next three weeks, if positive reply then RB have said will be able to consider things further.

They are a little unsure how the training will be done, usually new drivers get one week with a trainer before being let loose alone. Numerous shifts are available but new drivers at the moment are being started on days, Tuesday-Saturday.

In answer to your enquiry Betpo I would really rate L&T Transport very highly. All their units are fairly new, the Merc I learnt with was 02 reg, training is usually 1-1 and extremely well detailed. All I can suggest, as everyone says, listen to your instructor, they do have your interests at heart, don’t rush and try to enjoy to whole training period.

Thanks again guys an’ gals
