Fozzie - try looking across the pond at the irish companies, you live in the right place to be able to get on with one of those if you don’t mind the long hours, look around your home town area for irish trucks parked up at the weekend and if you don’t get to see the driver then note the trucking company details and give them a call.
you could also take a trip to the ferry port and note which companies are travelling backwards and forwards regularly.
if you go to an interview present yourself with an i can do anything attitude and i’ll be the best driver you have here within 3 months etc.
If you were from eastern europe you would have a job at the drop off your hat , no probs , maybe pretend you are east european until you get your feet under the table, ie adopt poor driving standards , dont speak the Queens English except when it suits you, refuse to drive anything older then a 04 plate and the jobs yours.
