According to the Port of Liverpool Police asylum seekers are trying to leave the country! Not sure if it’s foreigns or Brits trying to better themselves by escaping. There’s a pic here lorry-driver.com
Let’s not have this turn into a slagging match about the rights and wrongs of immigration/emigration! It just made me chuckle when I read it.
hi there the old scania does still work owned and run by a woman (Jane )she has a few of these still running. and the astran trailer pulled by seymours unit prob has not been much further than belguim. seymours brought astran a few years ago hope this helps
They are trying to get out via Portsmouth too. Thats why the security guards come around and look under your trailer when entering the port, to make sure the illegals stay where they belong - the UK.
Was chatting to the polish guy who lives upstairs from me last night and he told me he was moving because there are to many foreigners in the area. It certainly made me chuckle
bubsy06:
WTF■■? its illegal for an illegal immigrant to leave this country even though they entered illegally
In all seriousness though, would a driver be subject to the £2000 per illegal found in the truck fine if the truck was LEAVING the UK and the illegal was found in France / Belgium / Holland where ever??
Is the offence solely a UK statute offence or does it work both ways and the fine enforceable Europe wide??

I think the driver is liable to a fine if “clandestines” are found at a border crossing, wether on the way in or out.

To be honest, I thought it was only a UK thing. If the French found some illegals in a trailer at Irun for example, having just exited Spain, would they arrest and fine the driver■■?. I would imagine that if said driver was on his way to the UK they would wave him and his dodgy cargo merrily on their way.
But what if the illegals were picked up at Calais.for example, having come from the UK and entering France for a “better quality of life”■■? I would imagine Les Flic giving the driver short shrift, relieving him of a few thousand Euro`s (pick any random number, they would!! ) and then escorting the said illegals via a good kicking, back onto the next train or ferry and consequently back to the UK again, where we don’t want them to be and THEY don’t want to go!!
