I dont recall ever seeing a Leyland like this and wondered if it was a prototype ?
Looks like it could be shell colours.

The very SWB Atki 8-legger was a NZ-market motor, with the locally-built Taylor-Hull cab. Unfortunately, they weren’t terribly durable on the NZ roads, and a number were converted to take the Australian Atkinson cab instead. As far as I’m aware, only one Taylor-Hull cab survives, on a restored ex-Mobil tractor in a museum.

The Leyland tractor (presumably a Hippo) seems to have a coachbuilt cab, and which has a passing resemblance to one of the designs used by Atkinson’s assembly plant in South Africa. Perhaps the original cab was rotted and a replacement was needed? I would suggest that the bumper is from a 400 Series

Todays a couple of old ERF’s look like they are retired now, Buzzer.

Thanks to lurpak, servo88 and Buzzer for the pics

That is brilliant Danne, thanks  for taking the time and posting on here, long time ago since I left lorries but that takes me back to the open road and away for a week, “my own boss”, transport cafes, digs(o/night accommodation) and writing up a log book(dodgy) on getting back to base, happiest time of my life without doubt, like Lawrence Dunbar says, the good days yes absolutely.

On the North East thread paulycats has posted about dash cams and picture quality. I have had a Blackvue DR400G with GPS for 6 years and todays equivalent is blackvue.co.uk/index.php/on … -99-detail it is simplicity in itself to work with, it is small, lightweight and fitted into a bracket stuck to the windscreen, a micro SD card is easily removed and placed in a usb flash drive card reader, the Blackvue software will upload and play the video with a run time adjustment from stop for taking off stills, then fast forward until you see another target coming into view, and slowing the speed down to the shot you want to capture, I still prefer Picasa for editing and getting the best result. Videos taken locally I would speed through them for a bus, lorry, tractor etc but having just returned from the Outer Hebrides I will enjoy playing them in real time as single track road does not allow for landscape gazing

Before and after, the before has the video software control panel. The tipper shot shows really good detail.

Then and now thanks to Alan Sturge.
