Davies Int. Southampton. With photos (Part 1)

In Gibraltar I used to see new and very expensive cars driven by young lads that may have just passed their driving test but buying these cars was from the profits of smuggling from Morocco, cheap cigarettes and other contraband, in the police compound, there were new and flash speedboats seized by customs.
Overnight in Gibraltar was a bit boring, one tiny and old cinema, of which is probably gone now, and sugar bags were cheap so the Spanish were filling up their cars .
But has said, first time there was odd to see the red phone boxes and the coppers and English shops .
We used to fill up diesel in the BP in the marina .

Tarmaceater we also used to fill up in Gib also the fridges as it was cheaper than red, never overnighted there as we were always Gelling on.

Heyup Wrighty you could look on internet at a sight called Intertrac as they specialise in the make of tractor your looking for and they fully restore them as well. Booked me Charolais into market next Tuesday so fingers crossed the trade will still be flying, cheers Buzzer.

Morning Buzzer

With lambing in full swing we were busy yesterday tipping out yows and lambs as it was a real day up ere, could do with some more but it’s supposed to be cooling down towards Easter. Calving is progressing nicely one or two problems which you always get but on the whole we can’t complain, next job is getting the fert drill on to try and get some grass for these lambs to eat although the land is still very tender. Sold mi old Case 956 yesterday, it’s off to a lad near Whitby so now on the lookout for a 1056 with a 40kph box in it, could take a bit of finding a tidy one for the right money but let the search begin…!

Cheers Wrighty.

Morning Wrighty, I assume you have 2 tractors as you bought a newer one about a year ago or have i lost the plot ■■

Saw this Case about a year ago.

We currently have a fleet of five tractors on the farm, 3 main workhorses and 1 semi retired that is only used on the bale wrapper and the MF 65 which was restored a couple of years ago.

Cheers Wrighty.

Cheers Wrighty, nice collection. The one you bought in 2019 was the one i was thinking about. Amazing how things have
moved on since the one bought in the 1960’s,looks tiny compared to the latest one.

Dan bet that oak is not for firewood eh, still have the central heating on at night as it gets a bit nippy, Have to say your Foden is a very versatile bit of kit.

Wrighty I am wondering why you want an International when all your other tractors are Massey. My Charolais going to market on Tuesday so fingers and every thing else crossed that the trade is still as hot as last week, report later cheers Buzzer.

I concur with Buzzer that drivers should pay their employer a tourist tax , the more scenic the country the more sun tax is payable to be docked from their wages, so if they want to go to Switzerland or Austria , the highest tariff is due .

Evening Buzzer

We used to run international/Case International tractors at home growing up as a kid, our 956xl was the first in our area at the time and was considered a big tractor in it’s day (1982). The straight six purring away on the chopper is a sound to behold and is one of the reasons I had to have one…

Cheers Wrighty.

Last night Chip spent the night at the side of Lake Como, nice work if you can get it just spoilt by the crowds, Buzzer.

Those photos of Italy reminded me of a five day truck ban over Easter, but I was happy as Larry being parked up next to a leisure centre with a pool , I even got the cable car up the mountain to observe the posh hot totty skiing while I sat observing while drinking a hot chocolate.
There was a river to walk along with a concrete path that went past a prison, being parked up is what you make it .

I have to agree with you “Tarmaceater” i could never understand drivers that parked up for a day or 2 day weekend ban in
motorway services with nothing to do. You can only sleep so much.

I used to always get on a naional road and park up in a town on the industrial estate. At least you could have a wander around
the town,have a beer,meal etc.

Great pics of Italy Buzzer, heres a couple more.

If weekended at Fred’s at Coslada, Madrid, I couldn’t understand the UK drivers that would drink beer all weekend, when for pennies , you could get a bus or train/tube to the city centre and explore the cultural sites .

Or they would sit all weekend at the customs clearance parking at Alverca outside Lisbon by a filthy black water river full of sewage and giant mosquitoes, to avoid the stink , I dropped my trailer Friday afternoon and Bob tail tractor solo to Cascais beach.Back to Alverca Monday morning to wait around a few days to clear customs .
The same for TERTIR in Porto, head to Matoshinos beach, or Barcelona at Zona Franca and mingle in with the locals and learn Spanish or Portuguese in Portugal.
