Hi Degsy,
you could try Hills of Plumpton, near Lewis. I did my training with them, although it was a good few years ago now.
They’re only a small company but their instructors were all ok & friendly.
Hope this helps.

Hi degsy,

WELCOME.

These guys might be a bit far from you, but I’ve been there and I’ve met their boss. I’ve been in several of their classrooms and all are well-equipped. IMHO, everything they do is very professional, and their driving school truck was nicely clean and tidy when I saw it.

TBH, I know nothing about their prices, but I’d say you do tend to get what you pay for…

This LINK will take you to their website.

I’d like to wish you good luck and I hope this helps.

BTW, if you’ve done the taxi NVQ, what did you think of it??

Hi dieseldave,
Thanks for that, ill have a look:). Cant send for my provisional yet as i need my licence for my holiday next week, but as soon as im back ill get things moving.

NVQ for taxi driving?. Never knew there was one.
A lot of drivers we get coming on have limited knowledge of the area and questionable people skills, so it may not be as ridiculous as it first sounds.

Yes degsy, it’s been running in the Manchester area for more than a year. Apparently, the council has made it mandatory, but I don’t know whether it applies to all taxi drivers or just the new ones. I also don’t know whether it’s gone national yet.
