MFI’s collapse has wider ramifications.

A huge warehouse used by MFI but run by logistics firm DHL will close on 23 February if a buyer is not found.

The distribution centre, at Thorne, near Doncaster, employs 350 people.

DHL said it would seek to redeploy as many staff as possible, but had so far found new posts for only 35 people.

Not good …
Other areas of DHL contracts are struggling. We have a yard full of British gypsum wagons and trailers(and other dhl/exel contract wagons) hauling stuff for us to help out with the christmas rush , obviously no work for them on the gypsum contract.(and other contracts)
Not good for the agency lads though and BRS , used to have a yard full of hire wagons and agency drivers at this time of year

i run out of there on agency and the way they run it there’s no wonder it’s shutting. One thing was having 20 agency staff sat in the canteen on a sunday at 20 quid an hour and then send them home after 4 hours no work still having to them all 200 quid because they gaurenteed 10 hours. They always had loads off agency sat in the canteen but no work and also having all brand new trucks trailers and some just being stood on hire. Great for us agency 10 quid an hour gauranteed 10 hours a day every day part from sat sun but you can’t run a business like that.

Well personal experience is all well and good mate !
The reason it’s shutting is because MFI have gone ■■■■…
