The End For Now

Hey Guys and Gals, Been a while since i have been on, for those of you who remember me i was stuck on my class 2 driving as i kept failing my class 1 :unamused:

I worked up til December last year, and then that was it, no work, no job offers, no money to retake class1.

It came to the point of nearly losing our house so i had to return to my previous job, which is not where i want to be but its regular and i can pay the mortgage :frowning:

So that is the end of my truck driving for now, i still intend to retrain at some stage and get my class 1, but somethings have to wait.

Shame my dream never came true for me, but i hope to all of you guys that you keep safe, and enjoy the wonderful job that is driving.

Love and hugs to you all

Ange

Gutted for you, seems its been hard and i wish you all the best for the future as would 99.9% of trucknet members , dont give up just keep trying when you can afford it and when you do get your test chill and relax, just enjoy it that way you may acheive.
sincere good luck for the future

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Ange, hope the future is a bit more rosey for you.

Remember.Your friends are but a click away.

Ken.

A very sad sign of the times, good luck with the future. Hopefully one day things will look a little rosier.

hopefully all this recession crap will be a bitter memory and jobs may be plentiful.good luck.

very sorry to hear your problems.
just because you’re not driving now doesn’t mean you can’t take part in trucknet.
good luck.

Mr B:
just because you’re not driving now doesn’t mean you can’t take part in trucknet…

I’ll echo that - you still have lots to offer from your experiences and you might be able to help on here in the ‘other capacity’ (private info)

And soon I hope…

Cause I’ve only 10 years left :unamused:

I believe that’s 2 drivers that’s returned to the same career within a couple of weeks :frowning:
Anyway you now have an understanding of our job so go easy on us

Good luck and I hope everything works out OK for you

It’s not that private, Firebird posted her previous career openly for all to see :stuck_out_tongue:

 To be honest i had forgotten i had put that in my profile  but not to worry as most people knew anyway.

Im glad i have the understanding and knowledge of driving, the pro’s con’s and the safelty issues, at this time of year.

I will now do what ever i can in order to assist truck drivers and i have already helped educate some of my colleagues.

And thankyou all for you’re very kind comments, my dream will come true its just about waiting for it, and the conditions to be right, (finances, confidence, and correct training, available jobs) So while im waiting i can sit in my car at work and watch you all go by wishing it was me

Firebird:

That’s a few more that are aware of some of the issues that truckers face

best of luck to you, don’t give up,keeping the morgage paid is prob more a priority at the moment,at least your working and that’s so important…just like your dream job…you will succeed i’m sure

Am I the other one?? I’ve been back for a week now and it’s going OK. I think I’ve made the right decision, but if I could find a truck driving job that pays 32 grand a year before overtime for 40 hours per week, is very secure (never be made redundant etc), has excellent promotion and/or sideways moves into a myriad of specialisms an has the best pension in the country I’d gladly pack it in to do the driving job! I would, honest!

My dalliance back into the trucking world has been brilliant! I’ve loved every minute of it and there’s no guarantee that I’ll be happy as a cop, I’ve had to make a decision based on what’s best for my family long term…I’ll not be leaving this site either!

Firebird…my advice (if you want it) as an experienced HGV driver and copper is ride out this recession as a police officer, make the best of it and look at the driving thing when things pick up. There’s some very experienced truckers out there who can’t find work and it’s getting worse every day with all sorts of company’s big and small going bust.

Good luck, you have plenty to offer on this forum, we are criminal/traffic law specialists after all!

Now we have to very careful as we were infiltrated by the filth

We let them in on our darkest secrets and now they have a list of the bad uns.

Im squeaky clean but Limey Phil may need to watch his arse :stuck_out_tongue:

Good luck in your resumed careers.

It wasn’t me. I was set up.

Shrek:

Didn’t we do a thread about that recently? :open_mouth:

Good luck in your resumed careers.

Thanks mate! In my heart I will always be a truck driver, it’s just a shame the pay and conditions are so wildly different.

A few years ago…only for 6 months though…wasn’t for me, I preferred nicking burglars and robbers. I didn’t like dishing out tickets all day (nice to drive the big boys motors though! 1st time I let rip in a V70, it pulled the steering wheel out of my hands! :open_mouth:    ).

Difficult to argue against!

Stan

(Good luck to both of you)

All the very best Firebird!

It’s not easy being a police person these days.

I would rather be a driver than a copper these days!!!

Mind you, the press reports of the last few days aren’t doing the regular copper on the street a lot of good, are they?

Good Luck Firebird and Shrek
