Scania Longline

Saw one of the new Scania Longlines this evening parked up round the corner from our yard. Didn’t notice who it belonged to but it had one of Bird’s trailers on it. I was going to have a chat with the driver who was sitting in his living room behind the cab but it had gone by the time I had parked up and clocked off. Looked good though, even in the dark.

Sounds about right if it was Birds

I noticed in Lymm truckstop on Monday 1 March was a brand spanking new Bulmers 04-reg FH12 610 !!! Someone will be happy with that, although not sure about the £4.50/hr wage for driving it though :open_mouth:

i got a 345 cat powered foden alpha- gas powered at that! but im on nearly 10 quid an hour so ill just have to manage      . I didnt realise there were any of these longline cabs about yet? is this the one that was in the truck mags a few months back as a prototype?

I know someone that will be VERY happy with that, the chief engine development geezer at Volvo. If he’s managed to sqeeze 610 out of their 12 litre lump

04-reg FH12 610

he’s done a grand job i reckon!

Sorry, i guess that if i’m going to be pedantic i should really learn to spell ‘squeeze’ properly.

sorry the 610 volvo is a 16 litre

hi everyone its my first time on here so be gentle with me.tomcat that longline belongs to a belgian i think .theres a photo of it on www.v8power.nl

To be honest motors don’t turn me on, it’s the job, the take home and the gaffer. If I were living out I’d want something habitable and that’s about it  .

I too have seen this Scania, pulling a 13.6 metre Bird`s trailer.

Surely that`s illegal?

Vince

the belgians and dutch seem not to be bothered that its ileagal i do a few loads a week out of dover and see topline t cabs and nh volvos dragging 45ft fridges and euroliners quite often

Oops :exclamation: FH16 I meant of course :exclamation:

if you go to that dutch link look at the bottom right corner a Longline Bonneted v8

Wow, that’s nearly as big as my house :open_mouth:

Looks lovely, apart from what appears to be a stuffed lion on the dashboard  :open_mouth:

I remember reading a report on that Scanny in one of the truck mags. I think it has been dubbed a “Longliner”. I think the owner bought a bonneted T-cab Topline then had a specialist German company extend it slightly

Anything that size round my way would planning permission and off-road parking for 3 cars. :exclamation: :exclamation:

Gimme Gimme Gimme, but surely that bonnetted Scania with the ecx(?) body defeats the purpose, I thought that the longline was the bonnetted chassis without the bonnet with the emphasis being the use of wasted space above the bonnet!!! Still, its looks the dogs…
