Should make some company like PricewaterhouseCoopers transport minister since haulage etc… is heading for the recievers !

The conservatives have it by jove.

Former Tory London Mayoral candidate Steven Norris has been appointed to the board of Transport for London by new Mayor Boris Johnson.

The Mayor has asked Norris to not only join the TfL board but to sit on the board of the London Development Agency. He has asked Norris to carry out the specific task of co-ordinating work between the two bodies.

Norris is well known within the transport industry and has been described as a safe pair of hands, although as transport minister for London during the 1990s he presided over the late-running Jubilee Line Extension project, which was completed just in time for the millennium celebrations. More recently, as chairman of Jarvis, he has been credited with stabilising the fortunes of the engineering contractor following the Potters Bar rail crash in 2002 which occurred on a stretch of line maintained by Jarvis. Norris is currently chairman of the company.

He has also chaired the National Cycling Strategy Board, been the director general of the Road Haulage Association, president of the Motor Cycle Industry Association and patron of cycling charity Sustrans and the Campaign for better Transport (UK) Trust. Norris is also a senior partner at Park Place Communications, a consultancy specialising in transport and the built environment.

Boris Johnson said: “Stephen Norris will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience of both transport and business to these important roles and is therefore uniquely placed to co-ordinate their work. He has also proved, time and time again that he has a passionate commitment to London, which I applaud.”

Although Norris, who has twice run for London Mayor, had been tipped to chair the board of Transport for London, the new Mayor will assume the role for the time being. Johnson said the long term leadership of the board, which has been chaired by former Mayor Ken Livingstone for the past eight years, will be considered over time.

Dave Wetzel is no longer the vice chair of TfL.

You will get a reply. All govts dept have to reply to Joe public within 28 days. The email will be forwarded to her team who specifically deal with letters from the public.
What you’ll get is a “standard reply” letter which is a polite thank you, we understand, blah blah, blah.
If it becomes too “organised” & they received 1000’s, they’ll have special acknowledgment cards printed. Often used for repeat requests to end 3rd world debt, climate change, minimum wage etc.
All you do is waste taxpayers money paying them to work overtime.
How do I know? …I wasn’t always a lorry driver

Most MPs are only oblidged to answer their constituents.
Send your e-mail to your local MP with your name, address and postcode on it and they will then forward it to the relevant department/MP - I have done this many times and it works every time
