l 164 osx lorh mk4,
this was the best motor i had until i got a new fm plus 11 in 2004,you could just about put anything on this no problem.
loaded here in purfleet with citroens ex sheerness probably for bathgate, the only time we ever ran away on a sunday.
monday night was always in hamilton, cant remember the name of the nightclub that was next to where we parked up but i do remember it being open until six in the morning!!!

I worked for Lawsons for 6 years at Coventry Depot, great job until that t-t from up north started running us, we all asked for redundancy and got it.

hi mate,
do you mean mike meddan? i know what you mean lol.

three more members of purfleet social club

cheers steve.

I don’t think it was Mike Meddan, the guy i’m thinking of, was depot manager at Doncaster and then moved to Immingham, mid 90’s

thats him

steve.

lawsons bought two or three of these for specialised deliveries a year or so before it went down the pan,
it was taken over by willanius williamson the shipping line in 1998 or 99 it was all down hill then ( a bit like this thread)

Why did they go under?

hi george, not sure really. when it was taken over we all thought the writing was on the wall, probably some tax avoiding scheme or something but they lost the mercedes contract that they’d had from the start ,they started to bring in managers from supermarket chains who didnt know the motor trade and 5 yrs later it was all gone.
i think richard lawson himself (who i must say was a good boss) has started up again as a transporter firm called Spirit.
cheers steve.
