Operation Stack

Using the M20 as a truck park. Anyone there? Must be a little surreal.

Its just like being stuck in traffic. Consisting of trucks.

Quick question-do they close the M20 completely or do they allow local traffic, ie outside lane ?

We drop in Park Farm Industrial Estate once or twice a week & I hav’nt come across Stack yet (luckily)

From what I’ve heard the M20 is shut`

When I had the pleasure of sitting in it all day it was shut from the Jnt between Maidstone servs to the first ashford Jnt.
The queue for the train was on the hard shoulder and the queue for the ferries was in lane 3.

Its shut to traffic between Junction 8 + 9 Southbound … Freight only onto the Motorway to join the lines
then “Other” traffic down old A20.
A few ways to sneak across country …but Police will send you to the back of the line if they catch you.
We came off at Capel yesterday … down the old road …down through the town…into the Dock and virtually straight onto a boat !!
Tunnel is heaving of course…!!

Cheers Guys, don’t envy you sitting in those queues.

You wanna see the craic@ P&O/Stena Cairnryan/Lough Ryan.
The link Rd is choka and so are the ports,
they have even had to open the old Stena quay@ Stranraer for parked up trucks!!!

put a post on here late last year about operation stack, they closed it at junction 8 and took you off at the roundabout, but you were able to rejoin at the other side and carry on as normal,no police there to stop you and coming back from Folkestone [3 hrs later]it was still closed on the other side, and drivers were still re joining on the other side of the roundabout, why did they not close it when it was really necessary and not earlier in the day, caused a lot of problems that day

They were letting trucks just park up on the motorway?

They do it when there are problems with the trains, the Ferrys aren’t crossing due to bad weather or the French decide to have one of their 10 strikes a year

A pizza delivery business would make a fortune selling food to stuck drivers, or any van that sells hot food and drinks.

The ladies of the night would too if they dare venture out in broad daylight

Or a housewife could make homemade stews and casseroles in giant cauldrons and flog it for a fiver a big bowl, Cameron is always banging on about the big soceity of people getting on with it , she could make a fortune feeding drivers.

I wonder if anyone has been absent minded, taken the m20, got stuck in this operation haystack and only had a local day delivery in Dover?
