Just had my 5 yearly renewal in for my truck, I’m on a restricted licence as I only need to carry my own kit, and the fee was £397. Looking through my last renewal it looks like it cost me £2 ! as they stated they were looking to collect renewal fees with test inspections instead … well test fees have certainly gone up … but it would seem so have the O licence renewals 
… I take it the stated policy change was abandoned ?
That’s what it cost me to get my O licence in June 2012 (plus the £250 application fee) so if it has changed, it must have been before that.
Bit that changed was you use to have to pay a fee per vehicle on the olicence
This was scrapped and added to mot price
There has always been a fee to pay at renewal but cant remember what but was more than £2

Ah thats what it was … just didnt remember the renewal fee 5 years ago … ofcourse that was just as the recession was gearing up when we still had a bob or two and I musnt have noticed it then 
… the five years before that it was £299 I remember seeing .
