i passed my class 2 in march not been able to find work either in agency or full time. well my company have offered me to cover holidays sickness etc.
i will be driving a merc actros 18 ton box. any advice on this truck. 
The stalk on the right -
Pull down is the exhaust brake
Pull back towards you sets cruise control
and accelerates. push forward deaccelerates.
the button on the end is speed limiter if you press
it at say 30 mph then you wont go above 30 mph
unless you going down hill.
There is a knob in the centre of the dash which is the
diff lock. When off I think its on 0 pointing to the screen
if its been turned to the drivers side then its on and should
not be on.
Diff Lock -
The oil is checked by the computer by pressing the buttons
on the right near the speedo ect

all I can say to help is to fully do your vehicle checks, this will ease your peace of mind that everything is ok, and will help familiarise you with the truck. Make sure the mirrors are clean and adjusted for you before you set off. This all sounds so simple and will only take 10 minutes or so, but believe me will help! Also, don’t panic and use those mirrors to the max; if and when you have to manouvre use all the space available, makes life a lot easier!

did my first day covering on friday. did six drops in atego 18 tonner. from wigan to southport then to preston then back to wigan.
did 157 km i had no problems not much mileage but better than nothing.
