Newbie question on training

hi there everyone, I failed my test about 4 years ago and have now decided to give it another go.First question. Is 45 too late to be thinking about a career in lorry driving ? Also has anybody had any experience of Enterprise in Manchester for training. I must say this site is great,I’ve learnt so much just from reading about other people’s experiences. Thanks.

To be honest with the way the market is at the moment put your cash in an ISA and wait a while
there’s loads out there with not so many jobs going
I know thats not what you want to hear but thats life at the moment

 Hi bikerpeavey, WELCOME. :grimacing:

I did some LGV instructing some time ago, and I used to meet up with Enterprise’s instructors at the Bredbury Test Station whilst our candidates were out on test. I don’t recall hearing any complaints from the candidates.
I’d also say that Enterprise’s trucks appeared to be well maintained, clean and tidy.

I’ve no idea about prices though.

There’s nothing wrong with being 45 and starting in this industry, in some ways it can work in your favour.
:open_mouth: I used to be that old.

If you click the link in my signature or this avatar pic it will lead you to an index where you can access a lot more info which may be of use to you

To book any LGV training I suggest the trainee-to-be, visits the training school, meets the head person(s) and has a quick look at the truck BEFORE parting with any money.

Using the site Search facility and putting the words TRAINING AND WHERE you wish to train may turn up some recommendations.

I left all my links in the bit above as it has been some time for you.

The average age of a trucker is about 50.

Just passed my test at 43 years of…So I would say that 45 is not a problem, in todays climate that is young!!!
If it is what you want to do, do it…You come this way only once, I feel as though I wasted a good 20 years already…

Hi Bikerpeavey, I passed my class C with Enterprise on the 5th of November. You can request which instructor you want, I had three different instructors, I would highly recommend Phil or Keith.
Remember the pass rate at Bredbery is less than 40% so have enough money for a retest. If you want anymore info you can private message me. Hope this helps

my age was 40 when i passed, the older and wiser the better

Thanks for all the replies folks. I think I will give Enterprise a chance in the new year. I’ll let you know how I get on.
