LGV Theory/Hazard Perception for DVSA Voluntary Register

Hello, well today I managed to fail my Instructor Theory test by ONE mark…managed 87/100 but failed to get 20/25 in one of the sections (19/25 in Driving Test section). Never mind…it happens!!!

Really just wondering if I could access any revision, downloads/links for this particular LGV Instructor Theory test??
I can only find mock tests on-line for actual LGV theory - mine today was quite different to these.

BTW managed to pass the Hazard Perception element but both passes required at same time - boo!!!

Thanks folks.

Has nobody told you that the register is being scrapped!

If you pass all the tests you will only get a badge dated untill the end of this year!

Despite being on the register this is outside my expertise. PM Peter Smythe he will let you know your options.

Not really bothered what I get/don’t get…my company are paying for it all.

I have been tasked with helping out on licence acquisition so I requested being put through the Instructor testing for my own career development. I don’t consider myself to be a driver trainer but if I manage to pass the Instructor tests this can only help.

I don’t think anyone truly knows what’s happening with DVSA register but surely it will survive in some way, shape or form otherwise why would you still be able to book the tests??

Still a bit peeved I failed by one mark (average) and am really trying to find some guidance on the Theory test for Instructors - no publications seem to be available for this??

Also re-test booked for early October - 2nd time lucky I hope!!

PM me. I can give you advice

PM sent. I think…done from crappy fone.
Could you please confirm it’s received LGVTrainer.

Darren.

I see that misinformation is still readily available! The register is NOT being scrapped. Changes to it’s administration are still under discussion with no decision having been reached as yet.

Pete

Saying that just the administration is changing is misinformation!

Fully independent senior Dvsa examiners will not be conducting the test so whatever the replacement looks like it will not be as credible as before!

just the administration is changing

Why carry on misquoting me? I did not say that it was just the administration.

Yes, there are changes in the pipeline, but the DVSA LGV Instructor Register is intact so far.

Pete

Peter are you seriously advising people to spend their time, effort and money to get a badge that will be dated until the end of the year!

My advise would be to wait and see what the replacement will look like, evaluate it’s credibility and then go from there.

I’m not advising anyone to do anything - except look at the known facts rather than rumour. It’s always been a voluntary register, unfortunately, and it will continue to be so. Totally up to the instructor to chose to get involved or not - same as always.

Pete

Let me be clear on this (sounds like a Politician!!!).

I WANT to do the DVSA Instructor tests…I have zero worries about time/money/trouble as my company is paying & providing the vehicle plus a little practical training from an existing, qualified instructor and this is all happening during the working week, so in effect I am BEING paid to do it - nice change for me BTW.

Whether or not I pass in time or indeed at all is of little consequence - of course I do want to pass but if I don’t or I don’t do it in time my life and career will continue as was. If the format changes in 2017 I will attempt again as I want to go on DVSA Vol. Reg. to add to my credibility/qualifications if I’m asked to carry out Licence acquisition duties in the future.

My original post was to ask for tips towards the Theory test for Instructors as I failed my 1st attempt by one mark and can’t find any specific training material for this test. I have ordered the LGV Theory test book for learners but I found the specialised Instructor questions a struggle - this is where I need advice & guidance.

Peter Smythe = I may PM you tomorrow time permitting, I would value your opinion and advice…that goes for any other experienced guys on here too - but please don’t offer “It’s a waste of time & money” style comments, as it isn’t to me!!

Many thanks Daz.
