inverter help

Do I need to buy a pure sinwave inverter to run a microwave, or will a modified be ok ?

Modified will be fine

Thanks.

I have a 2kw modified sine wave inverter, it runs everything in the truck (microwave, kettle, toaster, laptop, mobile phone charger etc etc etc) without any problem at all.

I take it it’s better to have a 24volt one than a 12 volt

I was thinking about a 2k one. Good to hear it’s runs a toaster aswell.

A toaster isn’t a problem, they are normally rated at around 1000 watts. Electric kettles are normally rated between 1500 watts and 2500 watts, so check the rating before you buy one. My inverter will occasionally trip when an appliance switches off, I believe this is quite common, so position it somewhere you can get to it to reset it, or put a switch into the circuit somewhere you can reach it, I have a switch behind the driver’s seat.

I love a couple of slices of buttered toast in the morning, so simple but so satisfying.

I bought a small 240volt travel kettle from Argos for about a tenner… It only draws about 750watts so the inverter has no probs powering it… The original full sized kettle I tried kept tripping it out…
