Foreign trucks

Is it me or are there more foreign trucks on our roads
This is mainly due to foreign competition :exclamation: :exclamation:
Foreign trucks have large fuel tanks- this is so that they don’t need to fuel up in the UK :exclamation:
Then when the foreign lorries have done a weeks work on their cheap fuel they go home and fill up with their cheap fuel :exclamation:
This is not fair on UK haulier because they are being under cut from foreign competition :exclamation:
:imp: :imp: :imp:
Our government should do more to protect us UK hauliers :exclamation:
Our government should get rid of the tax on fuel for British hauliers by letting Uk hauliers use blue diesel for example :exclamation: :exclamation:
O I forgot our government wouldn’t do that because they wouldn’t want to give up the money they get of the tax :imp:
Our government would rather see UK hauliers go out of business due to foreign hauliers under cutting them.
If the rest of Europe can manage with low fuel prices
So can Britain :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

This hoary old chestnut keeps popping up.

Sorry Sambo1 I do not mean your post is not a valid point, it most cirtainly is, but this debate comes aroung nearly as often as the Euro Drivers subject, but what you say is absolutely right there is no level playing field between us and the rest of the EU thanks to the Blair which? project. :unamused:

Indeed! that too :unamused:

Just a daily tax like the Belguim, Hungary etc, Simple buy at port of entry, check at port of exit. Give UK or Continental operators the option of daily tax (with admin fee) or yearly tax.
I would have thought that any Government would jump at the chance to get money from people who can’t vote, But it seems to difficult for HMG.

The worst of it is with our borders being so easy to control, it would require very little infrastructure to set up and control it

As has been said many times before …there is only one way into our island…thats by ferry…and if the ferry companies can collect taxes for trucks visiting the benelux countries…then they can do it for the foreigners…and that system is already in place…all that is needed is a tax ticket…and a fee to charge
simple innit…but none of ourr governments want to take the bull by the horns…in case we upset our european partners…after all …we are the only country in europe who abides by all the regulations thrust on the whole of the european union…

Where have you been for the Past 12 years? You can come in by train too

And whilst it would be possible to put an artic on a 747 it might prove a bit pricey.

Yes the tories did because duty on petrol was cheaper than in europe. However gordon & tony came in and decided to increase it further beyond what most of europe is even paying.

You want to park up at dunkirk docks or take the boat to see how many foreign trucks are coming and going from the UK,full boat 2 brits, sad but true.

Not on Brittany Ferries. The Eastern Channel is the crossing for chavs

Why not have a relaxing ‘mini cruise’. Good food, good wine, and a chance to practice your Latvian on the crew!

In the US they have IFTA (International fuel tax agreement). So if you fuel up in Florida on your way to Wisconsin each state in between gets tax revenue for the fuel you used crossing their state.
Sounds complicated but it isn’t.Company files a mileage return every quarter and IFTA dishes out tax money to each state.Truck registration fees for the next year are based on the mileage you have travelled in each state the previous year.
If the EU did this based on countries you travel through it would raise the cost for polish companies etc to pull freight in UK and make things more competeive for UK companies.

Of course another giant beauracracy overseeing that is just what you need.
