for 34 years i have been a class one driver.24 of those years across the channel,i have to say over the years i hav been no angel, but as bad as i may have been igot alot to learn about villiany from this worst goverment this country has ever had.i dont mind being pulled by HM customs,i dont mimd the cab being pulled apart,i dont staying on the bay for 18hours,but i do get the hump that when they dont find anything illegall,THE BOSS has to pay the thieving so&so,s to av unloaded&reloaded,i have known for years we dont live in democratic state, this has been standard practice for approx 6/7 years, surely some so called transport org can av a word, isnt the transport industry being ripped of enough. End of rant.mciver m.

this is no longer a free country if you are a brit,i have been driving for 30 yrs mostly eu work,my last company over there was luxembourg based with a warehouse in belgium, loads of medicines, human and animal came from germany, sweden and norway, they were then grouped into different loads for belgium,uk…coming through dover was stopped by customs and asked what my load was etc,i explained it all to her, showed cmrs etc,she then looked at me and said go on the bay,i looked her straight in the face and said why dont you call me a liar to my face rather than use the exam bay as an excuse?? that was it on bay strip out a few pallets then through scanner, they found nothing wrong, but before i left i insisted she sign my cmr to state what they had done, this she did and away i went giving her a smile and said we are not all bandits, they stop brits or dutch trucks mainly because unlike our eu cousins our customs mostly only speak english,i think they should learn a language other than their native tongue this would make it a level playing field, customs even in france can speak 2 languages…

I got stopped by Douanes on motorbikes a couple of weeks ago just south of Nantes on the A10 - then escorted to the services.

Apart from their superb English, they were amazingly polite. Now is it just me, or have the Douanes all been on a “customer service” course lately as they seem to have changed their attitude. That is excepting the fat cow who hangs around the peages at the bottom of the forest road! Oh and smiler at Cherbourg!

I’ve been pulled over in France a few times in years past, usually to check fuel. In every case the Douanes have been extremely polite and spoke some English, almost to the point of it being a pleasure to be stopped. I daresay if your attitude is wrong, then there is another side to the politeness. Why cant vosa or our police adopt this approach?

Tiger.

Well here is something else you can thank your caring government for.

Continuous Insurance Enforcement

So you have a motorcycle in the shed, a spare car or a motorhome on the drive, so what you say?

Well Here you go!!!

Shafted, you will be

The Continuous Insurance Enforcement scheme, will provide a new fixed penalty for people who ignore official reminders that their insurance has expired. This’ll apply to vehicles that aren’t declared as being off the road through a Statutory Off-Road Notification (SORN) and aren’t insured. Continuing offenders will risk having their vehicle seized and destroyed. Where a motor vehicle isn’t used on a road or other public place then there’s no requirement to purchase insurance cover for ‘on road risk’ as long as a SORN declaration has been made. This scheme is expected to come into force during 2009.

Not only have i still got the hump with this thieving, anti brit, pro commie block firms, undemocractic bunch of"no idea wot i am doing, but wont admit it" look down there noses at the rest of us, mafia, now the polit buro chief, comrade brown, says the lads on srike over this[bring in foriegn labour] is wrong, and our lads should all go home and not be a pain, well mr brown i have decided to get some rumos and bulgis over here and they can do the job that u &your lot over educated, but no common sense lot cant seem to manage,av ad enough now, got an eadache.

Looks like that could be my new venture…

I can see the demand for £200 - £400 cars increasing if this is brought in
