Ive been revising my theory for just over a week now and think i have just about sussed it, well ive been using the cd rom theory mock test and have passed it over 20 times, so i booked the test and have got my date through the post!!
if i balls up on the day i must have short term memory loss or summat!
I had all the info sent from Scania last week about the training and prices and i thought it was pretty reasonable £189 for the Start the Scania Experience package which consists of a theory test, Driving test, Medical, and your driving assessment but being a bit of a tight ■■■ a took it upon myself to ring round to see if i could get it any cheaper
So i rang a Doctors surgery yesterday only to be left speechless when the receptionist said it would be a 30 minute assessment at the cost of ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY quid ! Well after getting over the initial shock i promptly said i will ring you back, and put the phone down.
I will be cancelling the theory test i book myself and leave it all to Scania, but that sounded a right rip off to me £120 for half an hour… What does this medical involve■■?

My local quack’s, receptionist, quoted between £85 and £110 for a medical, last year.
Ended up going here,it was only £45.(it’s since risen to £49). driversmedicals.com/_Locations.html
It was a 15 min. check over, check eyesight, provide urine sample and ask about your medical history, not much else to it.
I’m guessing that it’s an LGV medical… so here goes.
CAVEATS This is from memory. My own GP provided the service. My exam was for licence renewal, the procedure for a first licence might be different.
There is a form, which you probably already have, so the compulsory parts are explained in that.
My GP checked the following:
Height Vs weight. urine test for diabetes, eye test using normal eye chart, blood pressure, tap knees for knee-jerk reaction, scratch soles of feet for reaction, general check of limbs, fingers and toes for function and an extensive review of medical records, inc specialist’s letters and hospital records.
The appointment was a “double” and lasted for half an hour.
Not all GPs provide this service, but I’m told that the doctor sets the fee- I’m not absolutely certain on that last point though. (There are some topics on the subject on this site.)
Apart from the compulsory parts of the form, the doctor will only sign when he/she is satisfied. It’s clearly a heavy responsibility for the doctor, and for a very good reason.
I had my medical last month it cost me £85 at my local surgery, the medical itself does not take long, in my medical i had a urine test to check for protein, blood pressure height and weight.
This was all done by the nurse, then you see the Dr who tests your eyesight your joints and checks your medical record and no abdominal sensitivity.
He then just fills in the form for you, and stamps it and takes your money.
The peeing in the bottle thing is not for diabetes or any other medical reason, they just tell you that to hide the real reason. It’s purely to see if you will be eligible to do nights out after getting your licence.

LOL @ Coffeholic
The final part though, should be to see if you can manage to throw it out of the window as well, then you’re bound to pass!!

Just a thought, but you have to do the medical first to get your provisional C licence before doing the theory test. (If you already know this then forget I said it. )
