As a truck driver voting for the Lib-Dems will be like Turkey`s voting for Christmas. Their Policies regarding the movement of freight are not in your best interests and the haulage industry in general will be an even bigger cash cow for them in the form of taxation etc. Voting for them will mean rail-freight gets even more subsidies at our expense. :unamused: :unamused:

Dont think the Lib Dems could do any worse than the rest the countries ■■■■■■ were heading for another Greece bankrupt we owe millions and we keep getting taxed to the hilts so lets see wot comes out of this election

For the first time in a general election I feel like I’m standing in front of a firing squad of three deciding who will pull the trigger and finish me off :open_mouth:
Could LibDem do something that the regular boot-boys cant do? Dont know…

Perhaps its time for the Monster Raving Looney Party

Unfortunately in this area I only have a choice of 6 candidates representing in no particular order with their main bullet points about Road Haulage taken from their websites:

Liberal Democrats = We want to cut the number of lorries on our roads to reduce congestion and cut exhaust fumes.

Labour = We will continue to support the growth of rail as an option of choice for freight.

BNP = Bulk freight should go by rail rather than by road.

Socialist Labour Party = Long distance road haulage should be replaced by rail, sea and/or waterway.

£KIP = We will encourage a long term programme of shifting freight to rail for longer distances, as the majority of the British public (86%) want.

Conservatives = Introduce a lorry road user charge, so foreign lorries pay their fair share of tax.

At first glance none of these look good policies for a lorry driver or operator, hang on though, you say, what about introducing a user charge for foreign lorries, well yes, as long as you pay into it yourself as Neil Hobbs has explained many times, unfair charges for foreign trucks are illegal, but it may be the best of a bad bunch as they also say they want to turn disused railways into cycle tracks or footpaths and not put freight on them.
