The General Election

Which party is the most likely to represent the interests of the UK truck driver?

Maybe with the prospect of a hung parliament we can lever some influence by backing a smaller party that is willing to back the haulage industry?

it,s a pity we can,t tick the polling cards NONE OF THE ABOVE   and they may just take note :exclamation:

ahh but u can

by defacing the polling card I.E. ticking every box or none at all ur vote still gets counted in the offical stats

see here

or do a search on it

we had a lecturer at college with very strong political views and he said always vote even if you dont like any of the options you can always spoil ur ballot paper and its still counted

It’ll only be counted as a spoilt vote though.I totally agree with “None of the Above”.If there was a NOTA victory then the competing candidates would have to go away and re-think all their policies and come back with something more palatable.I say give us a NOTA option and make voting compulsory.Everyone is entitled to a vote and just because I don’t support a particular party why should I be ignored ? If someone does not represent my interests why should they get my vote ?

would be nice to know what the parties will do for us tbh, apart from steal our money

anyway i wont be in the country to vote.

well it sure as hell aint going to be labour who is taxing our industry to death year on year

I could not do that again I have put myself through Hell every day since 2nd May 1997 because I was in Turkey and couldnt vote. I blame myself for these idiots getting into power

He told them: "For 18 years - 18 long years - my party has been in opposition. It could only say, it could not do.

“Today, we are charged with the deep responsibility of government. Today, enough of talking - it is time now to do.”

So, what did you do Tony?

I think a hung parliament is unlikely until we get a proper voting system - PR, where every vote counts

What did I do?? What did I doo■■? :unamused: :unamused: Oh come on Mr.Wheelnut. I lied this country into 2 wars that have got sweet f----all to do with this country, but have a lot to do with my New Best Friends in the US of A.  Hang on a moment, while I re-insert my nose up Dubya,s ■■■■■■

I have also done quite well for myself, thanks to my friends on the American ,"Come and listen to my Bull Excrement ", circuit. Which, added to the back-handers that I (allegedly/reportedly) get from all those companies whose interests I (allegedly)promote around the World, have made me a (reported)fortune of about £20,000,000 since I left office. Which I (allegedly) avoid paying any of that silly UK Tax on, by rolling it around amongst a number of Foreign/Overseas Companies .

Oh!! I have also , along with my wife Judge Cherie,-- who is also (reportedly) doing well financially Thanks Very Much— got a family property portfolio (reportedly) worth in the region of £10,000,000.

All things considered, I think that in response to your question, I can justifiably claim to have DONE OK THANKS.  Byeee! I am now off to top up my sun tan somewhere nice. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Meanwhile. When you do cast your vote.Do not forget how well my good friend Gordon, and his pal The Chancer of the Exchequer, have looked after the country,s finances. Vote Nu Labor. Prove that you are gluttons for punishment. Prove that you love being a citizen of Nu Labor Utopia :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Heard on the radio the other day that the armed forces won’t be eligible to vote because the ballot papers won’t reach them in time. I can bet they’re overjoyed with that. This set of tossers send them to war, and then deny them the right to vote. Do I detect a potential backlash here?

For what it’s worth I have been in a Labour voting family all of my life, but a few months ago I took the liberty of writing to the Tories, Camerons office to be precise, and ask what, if they got into power, did they intend to do for the haulage industry? I got the stock standard reply from his press office that no policies would be decided until the reigns of power were handed over. In other words we’ll shaft you like Labour have.

And I thought that Cameron would have been a man of the people, what with a young family and all.

Ken.

None! - We’re not important!

Stan

According to the New Labour election poster featuring David Cameron in an Ashes To Ashes picture voting Tory will send us back to the 1980’s.

Does that mean I’ll be able to get European and Middle Eastern work and there will be better music on the radio?

A slightly different slant on your question. Which party is the most likely to represent the interests of the UK

That would be the new political party that will be called ‘The Silent Majority Party’ or to give it its nickname ‘The shoulder shruggers party’.

A party made up of the vast majority of British people who say ‘what can we do about it’ A party that if elected would form a government of common sense who would actually do something worthwhile for the country.

The only trouble is that it has not been formed yet, and unlikely to, given the fact that we are a nation of shoulder shruggers who go around saying…‘what can we do about it’
One day…comes the revolution…

In a word nothing, we will gather tax for them though and will still be working long hours long after they have came and gone.In our job Europe makes the rules ones that kid people on that it is for safety or the driver…poa,s wtd driver cpc dont make me laugh

This is the first time since 1997 that I haven’t had a postal vote, it is fairly straight forward to arrange. it is your right and a non voting voter is a yes vote for the incumbents imho.

However this is what the BBC are reporting about the Lib Dems transport manifesto.

I don’t know of any party specifically pro trucking but the Conservative party are always pro business and the BNP intend to rebuild our manufacturing industries, re-open our coal mines and re-nationalise our utilities.
Either would benefit the haulage business. The more products manufactured, the more needs shifting.
NuLabour will tax everything into oblivion, put everyone on the dole except those surviving off the drips from gambling banksters noses.
Green are anti anything with an engine and haven’t a clue about UKIP, Lib/Dem, English Dem or Arther Scargill’s Socialist Labour party.

enit?:

At least the current manufacturing industry is safely outsourced as anything we start to produce would be too expensive to sell and too expensive for us to buy. After all the rest of Europe have opened all there factories in Eastern Europe to cut costs

Who are we going to send down the mines, cheap labour from abroad or the proud Brit?

I was there and you’d have been lucky to get any job and the music like everything else was better in the 1970’s than the 1980’s.Which was the time the original ashes to ashes was set in.But going back to the 1980’s would get rid of speed limiters
