How much to train/test for class1?

I passed my class 2 last year (with p smythe) and been driving ever since.

Thinking on doing my class 1 in 2023.

Thing is ive no idea how much it costs.
I know its hard to put a straight figure on it but could someone give me a rough guesstimate?

I dont want to ring any training centres as ill just be wasting their time as im sure they’re busy enough at this time.

Thanks Rich

wallaceschool.co.uk/driver- … r-training
lgvtrainers.co.uk/training-prices/
scroll down for prices on both examples I found on a quick google search - there are many more

Thanks for that.

Not as bad as i thought.

When / if they update the regs so you can go straight to a class 1, that will cut out a lot of work for training companies so it would be reasonable to expect them to revise their prices when the law changes.

I am doing my ADR in December (13th onwards) after completing my theory yesterday, and will be doing my Cat C middle to end of November (will find out exactly when tomorrow). Do you have any advice for the ADR? Never had any experience with chemicals and the likes, but I was an Engineer in the Royal Navy, so I am hoping that will help somewhat lol

Just done my ADR had my exams last Friday.
Its just a in depth Safety training as thats all it is about being safe and knowing what it is you are carrying, and if unsure knowing where to go to ask the right questions. I had no experience with anything before going into the training, Did my Core, Tanks, Packages and all class’ (except 1 and 7). I passed all so just awaiting met ADR card now. I would recommend that if the ADR training place is able to to pay the extra so you can get 4 days on your next CPC then you only need to do one more day and you will have your CPC done for the next 10 years

ADR is fairly straightforward, and the exams should be easily passable as long as you can get your head around the sometimes confusing use of language that they like to use.
Before going for your ADR though, have a look at jobs in your local area to see if there is much demand for it, and if those companies will take on new passes. Most companies like you to have a bit of experience under your belt before letting you loose with dangerous goods, and this is especially so on tankers.
No point doing your ADR then just having it sat there unused for a few years while you get experience driving if you can’t use it, wait until you’ve got the experience then you can do your ADR and get the full value for money from it

That was the original idea, but as I am unemployed and ex forces I am getting it paid for - that wouldn’t be the case in 2 years time. Most are asking for 2 years driving experience, which I am happy to get first. I would like to try a few different types of driving first, including tramping - just for my own experience more than anything.

I can’t do foreign stuff until March anyway as I can’t travel till after Feb 22 (legal reasons).
