cattle wagon man:
S.A. Green & Sons Ltd., Beverley, took delivery of these 2 Albion Clydesdale 16 tons G.V.W.
They operated under contract to local animal feed millers Barkers & Lee Smith.
The bulk bodies were made by Pengco , Peterborough, and giving a carrying capacity of 9.5 tons.

Taken from an advertisement of November 1969.

Cheers , cattle wagon man,

Great pic cattle wagon man

I remember S A Green & Son very well. My Dad was a driver for J Kime & Son of Lincoln who were also under contract for Barkers & Lee Smith (Lincoln).

I drove for RW Edwards and PJ Coulton in the 80’s and 90’s

How about a small family haulage firm, ‘Jack Smith’ from Thorpe Arch near Wetherby. Had half-a-dozen artics and nearly all who worked there was a relative except me, not much money but plenty of laughs.

Hi all,
One for The Biker do you remember Sullivans from Ripon,as well as a haulage fleet they had a Renault Truck dealership.
These Turboliners ran Portakabins from York to Swiss every week.

Regards MaggieD

Yep

Remember them well they are still around doing live chicken work - they took the PK work from us when I worked at Wilson International to all EU destinations along with some of the drivers.

Remeber Jack SMith as well did they have a little yard at the end of the slip road leading from Tadcaster out onto the A64.
