What critical loads have we been hauling this week?

Pharmaceuticals

Continental work has stopped so beef into UK a bit of fruit and veg around the UK then the same back to Ireland

Our UK/France/UK work still going.
Truck parts, kid’s games, food ingredients, and finished grocery products.
Not all essential if we are about to start surviving in caves, but that isn’t the situation is it? Things are serious, but not apocalyptic.

Our UK/EU stuff got knocked on the head. I was due out yesterday but it’s all been knocked on the head until further notice, not through lack of goods, purely because they cant guarantee I’ll get back.

I said that doesn’t bother Matthews at Great Yarmouth but it went straight over their heads

The beef we take out to France is all for the restaurant trade so no demand at the minute, so it has all been diverted to the UK supermarkets.

Off licences have been shut down in NI, other half has said don’t bother coming home unless you’ve alcohol on board

Apparently…
South Africa has banned alcohol sales.
Quite a violent place it seems and alcohol fuels a lot of it.
.
So, are we better locked up with a glass to “take the edge off”, or will all those “cabin fever” knife crimes overtake the Covid deaths? [emoji3]

Assorted frozen foods down to the capital and back loading fruit and veg back up North

Beer to supermarket rdc’s,As fast as we’re taking it in it’s going straight back out…
The country has a drink problem

IE the loads you carry normally some of which should not be going anywhere.

I’m delivering gas in my mini bulker to residential and commercial premises (care homes etc) so that’s essential for heating, hot water and cooking

Normally on keg work but that’s died for obvious reasons, all fleet switched to small pack work now…
All the kegs that are sat in warehouses and pubs e.t.c will need collecting at some point as it will be going out of date and needs distroying, kegs will need washing out ready(if ever) to refill and restock…
I’d made plans to do jobs around the house thinking I’d be stood down but ain’t happening just yet

Carpets between various factories belonging to the same company.

Sterile water, saline drips and other fluids for the hospitals. Needless to say volumes are hugely up over normal as the hospitals gear up for when the Covid-19 patients start arriving in numbers.

Even the children are texting requesting wine for mammy, they’re cute enough to know that an easy life will follow once a bottle has been downed

Can I ask why that is essential?

I see a lot of things here that I (and I’m sure others) don’t deem “essential”. It’s a joke really

I work for a supermarket so I’ve been hauling temperature controlled food and loads of it too .

Scrap wood for biomass. A lot of the recycling centers (small independents) are shutting down and sending staff home.
