And don’t forget to wash it off when you get back to the yard!

Hi ROF He will be praying for rain    , Regards Larry.

Larry, if he wouldn’t wash the motor in the 70s there’s not much chance now he’s “matured” a bit.   :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:    regards Kev.

Hiya,
Kev I can go back to the latish 1950s and vehicle washing wasn’t on
my “list of things to do” back then, Oh’ and that list lengthened the
older I became wasn’t driving the motor point A to point B and
then doing the return trip with clear signatures enough for a boss if
he wanted his motor nice and shiny get the yardman to do it I’ll be
at home with my feet up or in my local having one for the road.

Hiya,
I most likely got ■■■■■■ through loading and unloading and roping and
sheeting I’m hardly going to get soaked using a pre-historic hose-pipe
when I’ve done a days work and making for the pub, and that would
be if I knew where they kept the cleaning gear, truthfully I never did
look, but you could eat your dinner off any part of the shed I did keep
a duster and a handbrush in the cab that was a job I could do when in
a queue to tip, back to the yard get tomorrows instructions and gone.
thanks harry, long retired.

It’s OK, H, I’ll come and wash that Bewick Scania 80 for you.

If you ever get back with the dog!

Now then Lads you have got to understand that “H” was what would be termed to-day “An organic Driver” in that he believed in letting Mother nature wash the outside of his motor i.e. depending on it pishing down regularly but as long as he always had some decent windscreen wipers he was sound ! and if the ■■■■■ got too deep on the cab well he used plant a row of tatties and some runner beans. Oh! and “H” thought that a hose pipe was for “colonic irrigation” well that’s what he told his Boss it was for :open_mouth:  Cheers Dennis.

Hiya,
Well Dennis your nearly correct going home time was designed for just that,
and your nearly correct about thinking the hose was only to be used doing a
spot of colonic irrigation and if he pressured me enough I would most likely
help with the operation by placing the hose where it would do most good.

I saw this on a run to Gran Canaria, very little rope and no sheeting, also a german car transporter driven by a brit loaded with mercs for a photo shoot was put on our boat out of cadiz but was heading for Lanzarote, he was not best pleased as the film crew were already waiting for him and the next boat was in 4 days time and for entering canaria he had to pay 60 euros for the truck and each car on the transporter and he was not meant to be there, the good old days eh,

Very tidy Dan, Not the best shaped loads to sheet & rope, But done by a proper Haulage man in my book,   , Keep up the good work I enjoy all your photos so keep them rolling when you are not sheeting up,   Regards Larry.

I spotted Dan running North at high speed back up the A1 near Colsterworth last wednesday Larry and he wasn’t loaded then. Must have been on a promise the speed he was travelling at, and I thought he was such a steady lad like his old man! :open_mouth:
