Hi Tyneside, Thanks for posting these old pictures, The Scammell at Noble & Lunds was driven by my Grandad Smiles, Brother to Isaac Smiles who founded Smiles fo Miles, He is second from left, The other chap IIRC Was called Bobbie Coombes, Regards Larry.

Interesting bit I read about Brooklands, apparently there was a bridge under the race track to allow the river Wey to take its natural course and on race days young men and woman used to come under the bridge in punts and watch the proceedings of the racing and there after they were named “The Punters” and thats where the expression came from, useless I know but interesting never the less, Buzzer.

A preserved Dennis fire engine from the 1950s at the
Merseyside Fire & Rescue & Heritage Centre.

Two American aircraft that would have arrived by ship at Birkenhead Docks exiting
the Mersey Tunnel in Liverpool in 1943. I expect that they would have been en-route
to the United States Army Air Force base at Burtonwood near Warrington, where today
is the M62 and Burtonwood Services. Are these lorries Fords ?. NMP.
