Anyone work for TNT or fedex?

So slowing down to 54 mph is 0.85 metres per second slower than one at 56 mph, so for the sake of ease of calculation assuming the other vehicle is in fact doing 1 metre per second more than you then will take 50x2 plus whatever the length of his rig is probably 18m, in which case will take 118 seconds each time you are safely overtaken unless you are overtaken by a convoy of 10 vehicles may be somewhat less then.
That 1180 metres lost would take somewhat more than 20 seconds to get to where you would have been had you not reduced speed.
Perhaps someone on here who has even more time on their hands than I do could work out the additional fuel cost incurred reducing and increasing speed in this case■■?

I’ve done TNT, Royal Mail, Aspray, DPD etc… I always slow down to 54mph or whatever if a lorry is trying to overtake me. If you’re overtaken 10 times in 3 hours what would you lose? 20 seconds?

Should probably not drink and post on here lol

You probably shouldn’t mate.

That’s some of the flakiest maths I’ve ever seen (assuming, plus whatever, probably, unless, somewhat less) and it still only has you “gaining” about a minute or less.
Either way, it’s not worth driving like a ■■■■ for.

Thumbs up to the 2 safe drivers above btw

Not disagreeing with you at all idrive, in fact I’ll often let whatever is in front of me decide what speed I (or rather the adaptive cruise control) drives at!!! I don’t care if it means getting to the next depot takes another 10 minutes if I’m getting another £2.75 or whatever
I’ll often wait until as far as I can see behind me is empty so as to not inconvenience any car drivers before I consider overtaking…

They certainly don’t bully me into leaving it later to brake for junctions and roundabouts anyway by being 2inches from my back. If they go into the back of me it won’t be me at fault.

I think your being a bit extreme they ain’t that bad [emoji23][emoji23]

He isn’t any time the M6 is shut at night follow them up the diversion regular jumping of red lights overtaking on roundabouts and dangerous overtaking ,do enjoy watching them fighting their way up the diversion only to pass them all once back on the M6, as was proved with the M1 crash most of them drive like complete dicks.

once your queued up to come off wherever then theyre always lane hopping in and out to scratch 20 yards or so,then back to wherever they were 2 mins later.
its just so rewarding coming up to the diversion as far as can be gambled, look for a wifey in a car, take the nose off of her and get into the lane you want to be in,flicking the happy button onto break, chugging through it all at a moderate pace, and taking the elbows off every last one of them as soon as your back on the motorway again.

Diversion route along the A34 last week from 15 to 14, go for miles with everyone just steadily driving along at the speed limit (cars and trucks), then in my mirrors I see trucks in and out of everyone, they both come past me at must be 56 in a 50 limit 2foot away from each other. First one is yodel, second one is Hermes. I rest my case.

I drive for Fedex,have done for over 10 yrs,Trunking a 600km round trip most nights. I don’t drive like a ■■■■ (don’t get paid danger money)
Must be honest and admit some of our drivers are very impatient and flat out everywhere,Stress levels must be through the roof
STANDARDS ARE GETTING WORSE…

I too drive for FedEx, being semi retired I have been doing two night trunks a week for fifteen years.
As a former HM forces driving instructor I like to think I maintain my standard of driving, but unfortunately we are all let down, doesn’t matter who we work for, by those few who’s standard of driving is below par.
We can slag off any firm we see on the road simply for the poor standard of driving by the odd one or two, remember, you are an ambassador for your employer.

Sounds like the race track (A75) most days.

Realistically lorries close right up close before overtaking. 118 seconds i.e. two minutes to be overtaken if I back off to 52mph-54mph doesn’t sound right.

I view it as trading places. The overtaking lorry maintains his speed. If he is up my arse before the overtake and I am up his arse after the overtake, so to speak, I don’t think a lot of time has been bled.

In any case lorries are normally queueing outside TNT / Parcelforce / DPD anyway.

guy i know has done parcel delivery in Sprinters since time began so it seems He is the sort that slides from the cab and his feet are already walking as they touch the ground. Hes never sour looking but isnt actually smiling when you get up close altho from a distance it appears he is!
