These are what you call trucks!!!

Oh those were the days…

Thanks Routier, great pics, yes those were the days. I thinks trucks have got like cars now,you have a job to tell the difference between them.

Derek, what did u think of the site ? The oldpics of the 141and F88 / F89 , WOT Motors they were, !! Did u drive one yourself ?

I just seen an old 80 unit on there. I once had an 81 running on scrap bulkers, that was a seriously underpowred motor for 32 ton work, but it beat the old brit motors I had before it for comfort and the heater!

Sorry Routier, just read your post, I never did any continental but a mate of mine worked for Prestage in Birmingham and he used to go out to the Middle East
to bring back broken down and abandoned trucks this was just about at the end of the ME boom years but I would love to have tried it.
I remember moving on to an F88 from a Guy big J,it was like going from a model T to a Porsche,we also had one of the first Ford Transcontis’s in the area but the boss’s blue eyed boy got that.
I remember the first volvo’s and Scania;s coming to the UK it isnt hard to see why the uk manufacturers couldn’t compete.
I’ve just finished going thro the site, some great pics, very good site.
