Merc refrigerated lorry class 2

Think our company might be having these next instead of Scania, personally I dont mind the Scanias. Just wondering if theyre better spec, or more comfort for longer runs.

I drove a 18 tonne axor for a couple of weeks 6 speed manual , I really liked it … but I do drive an iveco strallis normally  :grimacing:

As long as they ain’t autos you’ll be fine

6th… No, 7th…no, 9th… NO! 6th! Oh bugger it, how about neutral and full revs?

If their anything like the layout of our rigids, you have to tilt the cab to top the rad up!

Long as it’s not an Iveco you will be fine.

We have a couple of merc rigids 1 x 26 ton and 1 x 18 ton.

I imagine they are better to drive than our artics but I’ve driven them round the yard so far shunting.

But one question why the need for 6 bloody Cup holders in a 2 seat vehicle that most of the time will only have 1 driver, talk about going overboard.

If a 18t finds 9th then it’s buggered  rigids are 8 speed

Can never have enough tea in the cab!

P.S. Hows your driving going? You were up training same time as me up with Pete

The 2638 isn’t an 18 Tonner…

No … Sherlock [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] you know what I mean about the forgetfulness of the current Merc box in any of their trucks [emoji6][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Are they any worse (or better) than e.g. the 12 speed MANs we have? I can’t actually recall having driven a Merc with an automatic transmission. That may be because I haven’t driven one, or may be I have but I’m simply getting forgetful myself as I approach my 60th birthday :grimacing:

Far worse than the MAN , at least the MAN will select a gear , it may change up through every gear but like the Merc that will just sit in neutral until it makes its mind up as the cars come hurtling towards you [emoji49][emoji47]

Sounds just like our MANs - Roll very slowly up to e.g. a roundabout, see your gap, press the Go pedal and you can sense the computer saying to itself “Ooohh - he’s pressed the accelerator, I need to select a gear. Should I select 4th, or would 5th be better? How fast am I going now? Is it an uphill gradient? I know, 4th will do - let’s just…” Too late, the gap has gone and so you come to a full stop. Restarting is always “leisurely”, even when running empty.

12 speed 18tonner

Ok so it’s a W&D but only the prime mover is used on days, hooks up for a trunk run at night
