Stehinch:
So, had a minor bump back in June on the m60 just before the canal, (anticlockwise) I was moving from lane 2 to 1, and rubbed a car with the bottombof the n/s door, now instead of stopping in the live Lane I moved forward maybe 100feet to the crosshatchings at the start of the bridge so we wherent blocking traffic. I’m sure I saw the car drive past me and disappear onwards. I sat there for a while, traffic flowing freely, after a while I went back up the mway abd down in a loop just to check. No car, nothing. I called it into the office. Nothing more was said. Until I got home on Friday and had a letter from GMP stating my truck reg, failure to stop, failure to report and due care and attention, where you the driver?
I don’t know why or how this has come direct to me at home, shouldn’t it go to the office? I’m kinda panicking now

As no injured persons were at the scene the Police will not/did not attend. however, you should of reported it to the local station or 101 and got a Cad number … did you put it in writing when you got back to the depot. You could be facing prosecution for failing to report the accident … because you failed to exchange details at the scene of the accident
All, I can suggest is you contact Highways England with said times and dates, under the FOI ask for copies or images of you stopped, they do keep the footage so do not let them give the nonsense it is deleted after said time. As said call them give the time and date, you would be surprised at how many people call in saying they see a vehicle hit another and drive off.
you need to prove beyond reasonable doubt you made every offer to stop (however failing to report the accident to the police within 24 hours is not good furthermore your employer should of advised you to also)… Dash Camera would of proved the intent to stop and exchange details etc … If it was a 50/50 or you felt he had hit your vehicle more than you hitting him, you should of reported it as them making off from the scene of an accident. …
in relation to the UDCA, ( you are saying you are sure you see it drive off, not compelling to prove as such, you have admitted your not sure) and failure to stop, can give the evidence to the fact you stopped and the vehicle who claimed to be hit did not stop, your print out can prove it?? will it tally up with the time and date etc?? … provide this information to the police in person, explaining … Ask the local plod to explain to how you did not stop etc, (they will say you failed to report the accident as per law, you have no defence for this) I think you are a victim of crash for cash scam and no doubt the victims vehicle … was written off by your truck. as said DASH CAM is a must nowadays.
