5 on 3 off Rota Quiry

Morning all,
just a quick,i hope,question regarding rotas.
i work for a milk collection company and work a 5 on 3 off night shift rota i am entitled to 28 days holiday a year as we work the full 365 days due to not being able to stop cows producing milk.
what are the total days possible to work on this kind of rota company says 230 my calculator unless it is wrong says 210
365 - 28 =337 therefore 337 divided by 8 =42.125
so 5 x 42.125 = 210.625 days

secondly as i work nights i get a night premium between 1900 and 0500 they pay an average basic wage each week but the night premium gets paid dependant on whether you do a 5 night or a 4 night week working week start on a sunday finish on a saturday should i be getting an average night premium as well.
cheers for any response in advance.

I did this shift pattern for nearly 7 yrs and the answer is 228 minus 28 days holiday equals 200 days a year worked.

Second question surely it doesn’t matter as long as you get paid the correct amount of premiums as it all evens out in the end.

Your calculator is fine but your logic is out.

It should be …

365 ÷ 8 = 45.625
45.625 x 5 = 228.125
228.125 - 28 = 200.125

So yeah. What bald Bloke said.

Exactly how I did it .

Law states every full time employee is entitled to a minimum 20 days leave plus 8 bank holidays a year. So be 20 days plus 8 for bank holidays. Or more if you work for a good employer

With the standard of your company’s maths, I’d keep quiet if I was you!

Totally incorrect I’m 5on 3off and I’m entitled to a minimum of 24.5 (that’s including bank holidays) the 28 days is if you work 5on 2off

Anyone can work out what they are entitled to by going on gov.uk/calculate-your-holiday-entitlement

No it doesn’t, it states 28 days a year because there is no legal entitlement to paid bank holidays off.
