I think its good that the chap has not only resurrected an old thread but taken the time to post it 20 times.

He obviously wanted to boost his amount of posts. :unamused:

hope you went by date and time stamp or you may have deleted the original and left a duplicate

Lots of irish firms still doing it by road. We used to do Sweden Finland once a week on the Walsh Western work. Dixons and Virginia would be running fridges up there although I think they ship immingham, but not sure. We used to run up overland.
If you were willing to spend 6 weeks away you would go down well with irish firms.

I run out of Immingham where most of the Scandinavia shipping comes in and goes out from. Not once have I seen a Swedish motor. Lots of Dutch trailers though. Nearly all of ours are Dutch registered.

In theory Norway / Sweden trucking companies should pay more than UK /Irish companies, simply because salaries over there are higher.

I mean - if you work as “immigrant” with Sweden / Norway “National insurance” - watewa is their equivalent number.

I know that for Baltic drivers direct work for family owned Norway hauliers are best of the best with higher pay than any UK work.

I do Sweden approx once per month, nearly always with abnormal loads. Normally the only other driver accompanied vehicles on the ferry are other abnormal loads, furniture movers or Irish.

The UK / Sweden route has always traditionally been with unaccompanied trailers across the North Sea. (Ferrymasters, DFDS, Schenkers, for example.)

There are a few exceptions, the driver accompanied stuff via Holland, Germany and Denmark would be mainly: Exhibitions, Furniture Removals, Rock Group tours, Tankers - that kind of thing.

This firm specialises in Sweden, (in Ipswich, so not quite Essex  )

Perhaps if you spoke to them to see whether they send their own drivers over sometimes - or if not, whose traction services they use and if they could give you their contact details. :sunglasses:
They use a partner company in Sweden to tip and re-load their trailers that they send over unaccompanied, which I recon would be about 98% of their total movements - those are the kind of figures you would be up against, making your quest very difficult, I’m afraid.

:bulb: Perhaps when TN member KW (Keith) sees this post he might have some suggestions for you - he has far more knowledge of Sweden than me.

I do Belive that a few Irish firms are still running to Sweden.

Hope this helps…

I know a company in S.Yorks that regularly runs to Sweden but you’ll have to do 6 weeks away at a time.
