Projecting load question

To settle an argument, what’s the maximum length of load that can be carried on a rigid lorry, without an ■■■■■■/2nd man/movement order.

By my reckoning, max length rigid - 12 metres. Front overhang, marked etc, 2 metres. Rear overhang, marked, 3.05 metres.

Add 'em up : 17.05 metres, or a whisker shy of 56 feet in old money. As I said, no movement order or ■■■■■■.

Sounds about right but have to admit I’ve never done much work involving front overhangs.

As with most things, just do them, until someone with a convincing looking ID badge tries to stop you.

If you have some one with you in the cab, you can carry 60 feet, ie, 3 meter over hang front and rear as long as its marked.
I do it regular.
Although Dessy pete will tell you its a piece of ■■■■ because it doesn’t bend in the middle- ■■■■■■!

If only there was this thing where you could easily look up stuff… :unamused:

Seeing as 30 seconds on Google was obviously too difficult for you…

Now let me think, where did I get the dimensions from in my OP? Oh, I remember, it was a government website!!!

If only there was a forum for lorry drivers where you could ask a question and get a sensible reply, rather than insulting drivel from know-it-alls… :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

So why use the phrase “by my reckoning” which suggests you weren’t actually using the government website? Why say “to settle an argument” when it is there written in black and white directly from the horses mouth?
