Why, its not if every police car in Hampshire is running around with personal number plates is it 
British Transport Police have a mobile control unit which is something like
X999 BTP
It’s just possible that they may not have paid for the plates, just wangled them from DVLA. IIRC they don’t require tax either.
8 wheels the police do need road tax…its just free road tax…check out the next police car…and you can report a car without tax even a police car.
im just happy to see tax payers money going to good use
