MAN tipmatic gearbox use

Hi lads , got to pick up a Salford van hire MAN tractor unit- presume it will be a TGX auto , never drove one before :grimacing: is the gearbox easy enough to ‘sus’ out to use, is it stalk operated etc.  any help/ advice appreciated ,thanks .

just a dial in front of the handbrake, D if you want to go forward R if you want to go backwards, theres a few other bits to learn like you can change it manually etc but D + R is all you need to know to get you away

Like has been said, dial where gearstick should be, 2 options for both drive and reverse, unless you are connecting to a trailer you don`t need the d/m or r/m option. If you want to use it in manual there is a stalk on the right hand side of the steering wheel, push the top of the stalk and it will go into manual, push it again to select auto, should come up on dash to tell you which you are in.If in manual flick stalk towards you for up and push for down but I find that they cope well enough just left in auto.
Personally I like them and find them a relaxing truck to drive and they knock spots of the Scania opticruise.
