I have been told by one company that if I work for them as an owner driver I need to have RHA 1998 Insurance at £1300 per tonne. What is RHA 1998 Insurance.
If my vehicle is plated for 44 tonne does that mean that my insurance cost would be £1300 x 44■■?

.
can’t find the details atm , but “from memory” £1300 per tonne is the maximum liability for goods in transit if you are running under RHA conditions of carriage - so basically you need goods in transit insurance to that level ( counting the load weight not the gross weight)
Remember though that for you to quote the RHA conditions as your conditions you have to be a member of the RHA. You can of course have insurance to the same level as the RHA conditions without being a member and you would need to sort that out with your insurance company.
