Got said last by a Driver that it is in UK by Law,that Companies must do Historycheck of new Drivers they employ.
I remember i got asked usually Questions about Company i drove earlier but had ID of Departement of Justice and Brachoffice of a big UK Forwarder,which was Customer of the Company i applied did know me.
But how to do a 5 Year Historycheck by East Europeans?
Of any foreigner come to think of it

think what employers have to be able to prove is entitlement to work
