i think the website neglects to mention one or two other āmythsā
Myth: The haulage sector is full - there are no jobs available
Truth: There are loads of jobs available. That is why this website has been developed. It has been suggested that by 2010 there will be a shortage of over 100,000 drivers in the industry.Think seriously about a career in trucking. There are thousands of companies out there all specialising in different systems to collect and distribute products. If you do not like one system try another! There are plenty of companies out there!
WOW - everyone on here MUST have got it all wrong

I bet you were dying to say that
Iām obviously looking in the wrong places as well then
Mind you, did you click on the ājobsā link, under Wales, 4 jobs, 2 of them are for ādoctorsā and one for a PCV driver
England is well covered, naturally there are thousands of jobs, well 100 anyway
No doubt āsomeoneā will come along in a moā and tell us weāre wrong

There are plenty of companies out there! It should be noted that like any industry you cannot get a job just like that. You will need experience and commitment. You will have to compete for a job and the influx of migrant workers recently means that there are more people wanting the job.
ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā of the highest order.
So, wages are sky high due to it being a drivers market and can go where they please and demand any wages they want as so many companies just canāt get enough drivers.
Thousands of trucks stand idle with no drivers.
Job ads everywhere seeking drivers offering everything under the sun to tempt you to join them.
IF ā ā ā ā ā ONLY
IF you think any of this is true, the men in white coats will be with you shortly.
It has been suggested that by 2010 there will be a shortage of over 100,000 drivers in the industry
I agree
Because the way things are going
200,000 of us will have slit our wrists
Does ā26 years an Lgv Trainerā have anything to do with this site (or something that rhymes with site)? PMSL & nearly ruptured my hernia reading this tosh. Especially after reading this drivel in āNew and wanna be driversā.

And elsewhere on the same site:
"With a new career in HGV driving just imagine some of the benefits you too will enjoy and savour. Hereās a list of just some of the benefits:

You can earn a High Income: As a qualified driver you can take home Ā£420-Ā£600 a WEEK. Youāll quickly change your lifestyle and start enjoying the good things in life.
You can retire early: You may be able to retire early and in comfort with a secure pension.
Youāll enjoy company perks: youāll benefit from a great company pension scheme, up to 25 days holiday per year, medical insurance and lots more.

Excellent career progression: Youāll enjoy a career not just a job. With increasing experience you can take your career to more senior and higher paid positions. Its your choice!
Why is now the best time to start your new career?
Its hard to believe but there are currently far more jobs than drivers. Employers are literally crying out for HGV drivers. Take a look at these industry facts!
There are currently well over 80,000 well paid vacancies for qualified HGV drivers in the UK alone.
60% of all road haulage companies are struggling to fill vacancies.
The top 100 biggest companies are suffering even more with 72% having a severe shortage of drivers.
The shortage is so severe that industry authorities now agree that it could lead to problems in the supply of vital goods and services across the country. UK businesses stand to lose up to Ā£1 billion.
Experts agree that the severe shortage is here to stay and will continue to worsen in the near future."
But then they ARE a training agency
Isnāt there a law against advertising something that doesnāt exist?? Surely these āadvertsā are illegal?
Iām with bazfrombenidorm on this driver schools are telling potential pupils these lies, and whoās benefitting? Not the newbies, not us, NO just the driving schools.
Even agencies round here arenāt taking on I got lucky, I was registered with them before and they wanted someone with euro experience, dunno why, not had any eurowork from them but have had āsomeā work, so not complaining

I fully agree that it has to be against the trade discription or consumer act or some damm thing to do what they are doing- yes I am a trainer but I never have nor ever will tell anyone the type of c### that you read on some sites-
If someone wants to train then of course I will help them- but we are not all lying cheating scumbags
Good luck to those of you looking for work- if anything comes up in my area I will post it on here

I said before that it is mainly the national ātrainingā companies that put out this sort of [ZB] whereas most of the smaller local training companies do not - if they did then, IMO, word would soon get around that they were ālying [ZB]sā and that would not do their reputations any good.
As we have seen in the newbies forum, many come on here and ask for a training school recommendation and iām sure nobody is going to recommend one that tells porkies
For those that are not fortunate enough to find a site such as this before they part with their hard-earned, we can only hope that they do some research first instead of picking the first glossy ad from the internet and believing all that it says.
This is a bit like when us oldies were much younger and the internet was not there - we used to believe what the newspapers said (until we got wise to it) but nowadays the younger generation tend to do with the internet what we did with the papers and where LGV training is concerned that has seen the growth of these national training providers - in the old days most looked up their local training school in the locally focussed yellow pages.

I second that.
If we did give out BS we would loose our most important asset recomendation by previous customers.
We are totally honest with our customers and yes there was a shortage of drivers, and up until last November we placed most of our passes (who required it) into employment.
Sadly at the present the driving industry is going through the same as every industry last year you couldnt get a plumber or electrician to turn up for less than Ā£80 now they are ringing us for training, the difference is that when things do start to pick up (and I have no idea when that will be) the first people that will be needed are DRIVERS so while being no comfort in the short term you will be in a strong position in the upturn.
Just thought I would have a look at the jobs available in the Manchester area.
