Anyone in a union?

Don’t want any political ramblings, just want to know which one’s best for the lone driver if one has any disputes.

IMHO none of them, they are all money grabbing, spineless muppets

URTU - great for the lone driver - I was the only one in a union in a group of 20+ drivers - they represented me on more than one occasion all to my satisfaction.

Unions do not have the political muscule they used to have so if looking for one to change governement policy then you are out of luck.

Got to say … URTU … helpful friendly … freecall to Head Office, your area rep. then phones you back. They are, i think, the ONLY Union dedicated to drivers.

i was in the g.m.b for years, when ever there was a issue theyd send me to citizens advice :unamused: :unamused: , the last time i went the office was manned by foreign nationals, that was enough, i now fight my own battles, when im ■■■■■■ off i leave :exclamation: :exclamation:

U R T U for me to , use it as insurance as they will get the local rep out to you anywhere in europe if you get a tug by the nasty foreigners , and they have stood up for me in front of vosa so all good from my point (and won )

T&G - Unite…Waste of time…

Been in the T&G (which is now called T&G section of Unite the union) since 1997, been worth every penny. I won’t post what they’ve done for me in the past but will send you a PM if required.

Not in my experience, had a problem when working for Wincanton via an agency (temp to perm contract), they supplied me with a solicitor and got £1000 returned to me in missing wages that the agency said were agreed stopages with in 28 days.

there are quite a few who were in a really big union until 1992.

United Soviet Socialist Republic. even they don’t have much political power anymore, so what do our unions have? no hope. so it’s not worth being in one.
