I’ve just heard about the death of another old middle east hand, Malcolm Maynard who used to run to Iran, Syria, Saudi and all points south in a Scammell Crusader in the early 70’s for Davies Turner. He passed away earlier this week after suffering a stroke about two weeks ago so I’ve been told. Malcolm ran a couple of Crusaders on the m/e and was involved with the Scott bros of Scott Ro Ro and bought three of their trucks in the late 70’s but had to revert to being an owner driver when things went wrong as they often do. He did spain for several years before packing it in and doing driving jobs for different companies. I last saw him in the early nineties when he had returned to long distance for a while for a company whose name escapes me running to the ukraine and other destinations in that area. After that he was working for a local company near Aylesbury, NWT Southern tipping and loading trailers until into his seventies when he moved down south. R.I.P
