Angry People

In yesterday’s newspaper it was reported that 1000s of shop assistants a year are abused/assaulted for asking for something as mundane as proof of age or ID;it is widely known that paramedics and hospital staff are routinely attacked while performing their jobs;everyone on this forum will have either witnessed or been on the receiving end of a road rage attack. What is the matter with people these days? Why are so many people apparently permanently angry every minute of their lives?People have no patience nowadays. It is not nostalgia that I recall things being much different 60 years ago.Is it all the fault of rock n roll, the hippies,or maybe Thatcher?

Self-important I’m always right attitude.

Modern life seems to be becoming more and more intense, not enough hours in the day, everything seems last minute, and we’re all pushed harder and harder to do more and more.
Work was a lot physically harder a generation ago, and many people my age have knackered backs, knees etc through the hard toil. Nowadays there is not the hard graft but I think people are being put under enormous mental pressure now, iphones, gps trackers, constantly watched and analysed - 20, 30 years time I reckon mental illness will take over from musculoskeletal problems.

Wife’s a nurse at the new specialist hospital. She’s been attacked once (so far)…

Sister’s a paramedic, she get attacked ALL THE TIME, even when trying to help them!!! :unamused:

Surely there has been a large increase in road rage type incidents over the last 10-15 years. As above probably the modern culture something to do with people wanting to get things done like yesterday. The risks some drivers will take to get a car length in front is scary.

Reasons as requested.

  1. Banning of corporal punishment in schools.
(please don’t respond Carryfast I don’t want another 6 page debate, like last time I touched on this, about you telling me about your schooldays in the East London comprehensive school equivalent to Auschwitz)

2.Crap parenting (and lack of discipline in the home) including not teaching their kids basic manners and respect.
Reckon that covers it.

Much the same people as we see on our roads everyday.Angry impatient and always in a hurry. Some of these will drop down dead before they get old.Heart attack one day or mental breakdown.SLOW down you fools. :unamused:

People are more single minded (Know that there are good forms of “single-mindedness” and bad forms. Here’s the difference.
The bad single minded: When one becomes so preoccupied with a task that they lose all grip with their daily responsibilities and accountability to others, this is obviously a form of self delusion. We often label these personality types as “self-centered” or “self obsessed”, carrying a negative connotation. Often people that are mentally ill or mentally challenged will be seen doing the same movements over and over. This is hardly the “single-mindedness” we are after.
The good form of “single-minded” is the ability to block out distractions and erroneous thoughts in order to concentrate better. Your desire to become more single-minded will enable you to finish projects with more efficiency in less time.)

People dont even know their neighbors anymore, they only are focused on their selves.

Kids don’t know what the word NO means, and that attitude get taken into their adulthood.

A lot of people live in a virtual world / mindset, and think that it is ok to attack somebody, this can be because the use of drugs/ alcohol, or brainwashed by computer games etc.

Watch a couple of hours an very strong war movie or a mad max style of movie, and you will be angry for no reason

Yes it does RR.

1, is your nanny state / ‘don’t you dare touch my child or I’ll sue etc’ type typical school…

And 2, sounds like our house! I can’t discipline our kids, as everyone on her side of the family - who’s kiddy obsessed, see’s it as ‘bullying’! :unamused:

Going to have to stop you there. I grew up playing violent video games like Grand Theft Auto and I turned out alright. I don’t think there has been a credible study that has found a link between playing violent video games and increased anti-social behaviour.

However, I do agree that the internet has given people a place to act like jerks with no comeback. Even back when I was at school in the late 90’s, if you chatted zb you had to back it up. Today, all you need to do is create a throwaway Twitter account and then you’re free to sling crap in any direction without fear of any comeback.

Completely agree on point two. The papers are full of people who are complaining about their child being punished for breaking the rules. Uniform non compliance being the most popular.

Completely disagree on point 1. There are far more effective ways of punishing a child than assualting them. Unfortunately, they often require the support of parents. See point 2!

Daughter is a nurse ( not long qualified) , she was recently threatened by a patient , when I said to Mrs on phone why didn’t she call security , Mrs ( she also works at hospital ) said they have too call the porters , it’s a smallish local hospital so maybe that’s why they call porters not security , but either way why you’d feel the need too threaten some young girl who’s trying too help you I’ll never know .
You do fill helpless at times , I’m her dad so should make sure she’s safe but can’t be with her all the time :frowning:

How about point 3…

Bring back capital punishment!?

Don’t get me started on this,
My Mrs is a teacher and after been thumped by a kid and called a fat ■■■■■■ cow, grabbed this lad and took him to the safety net team,he got his parents got called in and the dad waited for my wife and threatened her outside the school.
Now I’m not a violent man but I can look after myself and I did a bit of digging and went to his house, told the bloke if he wants to threaten some one threaten me and let’s have it out…
Put my point across to him, then 2 days later Iv got the coppers at the door trying to do me on a threatening behaviour charge, the school disciplined my wife and all this because of some dysfunctional family scrots can’t control there kids, :imp: :imp:

So it’s all your fault dad! :open_mouth:

And I concur, getting the cane didn’t do me any harm, it just taught you that there are consequences to your actions. Today kids can do as they please, and a lot of parents are so wet or unqualified to be parents, that the kids run riot and haven’t any respect for others…

As for angry people, I’ve come a cross a few angry pensioners in my driving career so far, maybe they used to be ‘boys’ back in their hay-day.

Strong words to make your point mate ‘‘Assaulting a child’’ :bulb:
Here’s a comparison for said criteria.

Some 6 foot 15 yr old violent scrote being a total arse in class to the rest of the kids and his teacher, on one hand.
Or.
A naughty 8 yr old who has not done his homework, on the other.

See if you can decide which type of kid I meant that should be punished with a slap. :bulb:

A slap might be enough to prevent the naughty 8 year old from becoming a violent teenager.I drive a school bus and see a police car out side the local high school regularly The teachers are not allowed to take action themselves.
