Non HGV query

Hi all, my cousin needs to renew her provisional licence & change the address aswell but her passport has expired (ita a car licence). How do we go about doing this please? Iv googled it but my mind is a bit fuzzy  Many thanks!

gov.uk/id-for-driving-licence

If she has no forms of ID, then birth certificate and national insurance number is probably the only way.

Thanks TruckerGuy, after checking the gov website it appears her provisional has an extension due to covid and so does not expire until next year (she has all other relevant forms of ID except passport as its expired). if she applies for a renewal, will they automatically change her address to the new one she provides or should she do the change of address first and then once the plastic cards come thru the post should she apply for a renewal?

Thanks again!

Canโ€™t you do both at the same time?? I had to report my licence as โ€œlostโ€ and the new one had a new expiry date on it. Maybe if you change the address it will do similar?

Hi Lou,

if your friend needs to renew a provisional it is because it is greater than 10 years old and needs a new photo, I do know the DVLA link into the passport office to get the image for your driving licence on renewals only as that is what they did on mine.

So, my advice is to renew the passport first with the new image, then apply for a replacement licence after you get it back.
