Valuable loads

All covered under standard terms of carriage unless changed for the load .
It was 1300 a ton a few year back

I had a full trailer of laptops a few years ago. Don’t know how much the load was worth but they took my finger prints before I got the paperwork and was told not to stop and was given a phone number in case I had a problem and had to stop.

26 pallets of Aldi pizzas. On second thoughts, perhaps the contents of my vehicle fuel tank were worth more!

Most of our loads are around 6-8 million, most I’ve had in convoy is 4 running together, though I was responsible for 15 trucks shipping out in one go a few times.

Customer insures for obvious reasons.

I moved 3 land speed record cars from Beaulieu motor museum to a posh restaurant on the kings road for a press thing.

Not seen any on AutoTrader so dunno what they are worth.[emoji23][emoji23]

Always good to have an audience when unloading pita vehicles.

The thing with most very high value loads is they aren’t worth anything to anybody but the owner. What would you do with aircraft engines? The foal is only worth that for stud value and you need the paperwork to go with it. Land speed record cars are pretty unique so not readily sellable on auto trader! OK ■■■■ and booze have a market but not your corner shop at 20k a bottle. But yes I know what you all mean - it is amazing what somebody else’s tat is worth

4 aircraft engines (GR4 tornado) at a supposed half a million a piece!

Thought to they’d be worth more than that, carried engines for the KC135 tanker and they told us they were worth over $5m a piece, only carried one at a time though.

Even the prop for a Hercules was supposed to be $600k at least that what we were told when a forklift driver dropped one when unloading it.

Yes you could be right, that’s why I said supposed as it was a while ago and my memory of the value may have been wrong. Maybe it was a million a piece that I was told.

You could very well be correct the first time round. Out of time jet engines (needing rebuilds) are only of use to tech colleges for teaching or for other ground use and worth very little compared to a low time or newly rebuilt engine certified to go back into an aircraft.
Our loads are agg (polished stone) and easily disposed of if stolen, some in 1t bulk or palletised up in 25kg bags, not cheap but…doubt many t leafs would bother though…

Would like to see that load… :unamused:

Why would you like to see it? Is there something you don’t understand? Just say and I will explain. :unamused:

Most jet engines, I’ve seen on a trailer is 2.

I did not say I took all 4 at once. If my memory serves me well we could have had 3 at once but I still would have had to come back for the other so it was two at a time.

These were brand new so I believe.

On the subject of replacement aircraft engines being needed urgently to be transported:

In 1968 the RAF decided that two Shackleton aircraft were required in Majunga. The aircraft were duly dispatched from Ballykelly. One of the two did not arrive until 52 days later, having actually flown a total of 42 hrs 10 mins. It had however required: 1 replacement pilot, 8 engines and 10 propellors to get it there, at an overall average speed of less than 5 MPH.

There appears to have been some high level questions about the crew’s expenses!

How about 12 pallet/bins of casino chips . They came out of a casino in Nice and were loaded under the watchfulness of armed police . Taken to Birmingham to be destroyed . Apparently they could still be cashed at the casino , they were phased out by electronic betting .

Nothing compared to some others on here but did T.V 's to Sony Centre shops. Double manned & regularly had £1 million + worth of T.V’S in the back.

Pre GPS days. TM would phone every hour to check where we were & that we hadn’t been robbed.
