Used to work for bwh in 80s started of with a Leyland boxer then moved on to f7, remember the pay being quite good on pourcentage of your vehicule earnings,after brought my first truck merci 1617 and worked out gypsum subbing for Cyril Ellison, West Pillings for pyeketts, plus several other local companies, in 1986 I moved to Brittany in france were I still work as o/d now with my son,

Rose Transport, Thats a blast from the past I remember their motors delivering carpets in Stowell Street Newcastle in the 50/60s, Are they still going I wonder, Regards Larry.

Having lived in and around newark most of my life i just wish i had taken photos of the many companies that
opperated in the 1950s and1960s in newark.Many big transport companies opperated out of newark including
FERRYMASTERS,RUSSELL DAVIS,CURRYS,MAJOR OILS,NEWARK TRANSPORT,HEMELITE BLOCKS,
as well as the many small time opperators and owner drivers.If any member have any photos from this era,please
post on this thread.Some more that come to mind are BRITISH GYPSUM,A ROSE,MARRIOTTS,LAMATEX MORTER.
