Tour-Event Driving Season

boeboe:
I worked for yeardleys for about 4 months and left towards the end of 2016. Anyone who thinks they will earn a grand a week is kidding themselves, the pay is £73 a day Monday to Friday regardless of hours so if you do 15 hours then at minimum pay thats £4.95 an hour. I reported them to the minimum pay comission but because of the crafty way they pay you I couldn’t prove how many hours I did to earn my wage. They say you need lhd experience but in reality they are desperate for drivers because anyone with any sense leaves. Wouldn’t touch this place with a barge pole.

What do you mean “you couldn’t prove how many hours you did” you have it all officially kept on your digi card surely.

Boeboe, did you work for BrianYeardley out of Featherstone or the fridge trailer firm Yeardsleys ?

The fridge firm don’t have lhd Toby .

haha this thread is great… Toby dunno where your getting your figures from… As shade said call around the usual firms or go to Holland and work for Peter Smit… He has bulgarian and romanian trucks and drivers… as well as every other nationality going. But a grand a week. I wish…

I was earning £80 a day in 1994… What driver shortage?

I couldn’t prove the hours because minimum pay commisioner only look at time sheets etc and you just send your times in by text. As your on a fixed amount a day the last text I sent just said 7 nights out weekend payment plus any expenses. I have now heard that drivers don’t get paid a night out if they are in the yard which they always paid, drivers have been told to take a £4 a day pay cut which makes the money even worse

If they’re daft enough to put up with it then that’s all they’re worth.

Someones beaten me to it to say what the by lads are on. Nice kit though.

I would imagine the film and music business are busy all year around
I have yet to see a month where there is no music concerts on or films aint been released, with regards formula 1 I would imagine they may be quiet periods but I presume in them periods they would be prepping etc which would still need transport

Give Fly By Night a call, they are looking for drivers. I take home a grand if I work a full week.

Out of the blue…I’m going back doing it. And happy to be so! :sunglasses:

Good luck, lets us know what the craic is! Will you also be earning £1000 a week?? :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Nope…Nowhere near.

I am on the buses.

Bigvern, who for out of interest?

From what i hear the “specialists” that are doing it are playing the stobart game and slashing the rates just to get the work.

The £72 a day crew have just turned up at my home town instead of the normal bunch that have been doing it the last ten odd years.

Me too.

I also earn well over a £1,000 most weeks but I hardly get paid the half of it. [zb]!!

Again , some guys on here are throwing jibes about wages . If you don’t work for the firms being discussed why comment on alleged day rates or weekly wage . You all seem to laugh and the grand a week merchants , but that is , in fact , entirely plausible.

I don’t disclose who I work for anymore, since forking up a job a few years ago due to comments on here amongst other things!
But as Shade states. It is VERY possible to earn a grand a week easily. I actually did the 1st week here, as I had to go self-employed to catch up with the start of the new payroll beginning the 1st April. I invoiced well over a grand for7 days work plus night out money.
