This was laid to rest about 6 months ago. She can still growl, an i’m sure she still could do a good turn…

Why is that just dumped??! Are prices so bad now or is it placed in “strategic reserve”?

Its not long had £5000 spent on it, apparantly its going to be sorted out…

Dunno if the gaffer looks on here, but she’s been moved off the mud !! I’m going to see if she’s in the garage tomorro, fingers crossed…

These aren’t my pics so I have posted links out of respect to the guy that took them, but all looking very sorry for themselves…all taken in the truly fascinating amazing yard of Riddells in the north of Scotland. Apparently they are being cannibalised for spares for their impressive Scania fleet. I would love to wander around this yard with a camera!!!

As an escapee from Stamford I can remember the Gilman wagons, not sure if that was one or not, but being Northampton registered it’s not a million miles away. Gilmans were part of the same group as C&G Concrete, whose wagons were normally dragged out of a graveyard. They used to make their own mixers, using old dustcart chassis.

The ‘parts bin’ round the back was a field of several acres, full of old Leylands. It was cleared by Kev Dennis from Wainfleet when Breedons bought C&G from the administrators.

STEVE OWEN:
The Scammell would have come from the then Leyland dealers in Northampton, i had A115 UVV which was a Roadtrain 1729…i was 21 yrs old and had it brand new!!

gunnerheskey:

DeeDah:
what about the Scammell lurking in the background?

gunnerheskey:
This old gem’s just waiting to be saved… And still in decent knick too…

Jeez, DeeDah what was i thinking :open_mouth: Your so right.
Here she is

Double drive too by the looks of it? Definetly needs saving!

think there was a firm called gilmans used to have roadtrains in that colour, used to do alot of spuds

The Scammell is a genuine one owner machine and belongs to a firm called C Walton who are general contractors and farmers and at one time did a lot of land drainage work.
As far as I know they are not intending to part with it.

This is on Balthane Industrial Estate, near the Isle of Man Airport. 1991 Liverpool reg, never had Manx plates so never been on Manx roads (well not as far as I know). Anybody recognise it,ex Edmundson’s of Preston has been suggested. It has two derv tanks.

Hi gaz, as jessie j would say its all about the money, money, money,I had two f10s over the years a AOC470T AND B811NJU an ex bass breweries unit, great motors the pair of them earned good money and enjoyed driving them, ive always fancied putting one of the facelift models back to its prime.

Best thing for a Scania scrap it.
