Chris and Bev,he was known to us as Coco, used to work with him at one time, tell him Wayne says hello, havnt spoke to him in ages,i used to drive the Cepac topliner fo Osborne
Such a nice wagonā¦ā ā Mmmmm, matter of taste i suppose, i cant stand the things myself, and quite a few people i know who have commented on them say the same thing, my dad was working for a heavy haulage firm who did a lot of subbing for H.C Wilson from Elmswell, well known for big loads, and my dads boss said he had a good deal with the local Scania dealer for one of the 1st 480 164 T cabs, a double drive, me dad said if you buy one, well thats up to you, if you give it to me im leaving. Surprised me that, as hes Scania thru and thru. Horrible things
Iāve never taken to the look of the Topline T-cab, but the standard T-cab looks fine. The Topline reminds of the Tefal ads with the guys with big foreheads. To me it looks top heavy.
When i worked for a firm in Sweden, we had 2 Topline 4 series Scanias and around(and i stand to be corrected by KW ) 45-50 Globetrotter FH"S, the 1st time i saw one of our Scanias, i was talking to another of our drivers (Svante) and that was the comment he made, he called them water-heads, as in the big foreheads like the Tefal adverts , i must admit i hated 4 series at first, i thought they were U.G.L.Y , but have changed my opinion now,and although its not my first choice of truck, IMHO i think its one of the best looking, just not practical to live in for a few weeks at a time
Didnt get up the yard enough for that Keith, didnt even know they had a 530 but i got a photo from William when he was trying a double drawbar out, the 6 wheeler rigid on the front was a FH non Globetrotter cab in Frigoscandia colours as were the two trailers, William reckon it took him 15mins to back on a bay with it, which considering all them bends was quite remarkable
He said he did it at a testing station where people went for their caravan test, apparently everyone stopped when they saw him backing onto the bay i do beleive he got a round of applause when he finally did it

Did a shunt for my mate to Felixstowe around a month ago now, in his 580 Scania(they really arent anything special dear reader!!) and saw the Magnum Osbournes used to own, the one with no speed limiter(long story) Judge Dredd, waiting for the night boat to come into berth, havent seen it since the āincidentā when they had it, so i presume its pulling ferry trailers around out of Felixstowe full time, i got no idea who owns it etc etc, but its still got the same paintwork, just hasnt got that blokes name on it anymore.
